Because the sky is blue, aah aah aah aahGood day to you all, Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Thom. In the words of genius Noel Gallagher I'm from HuddersFUCKINfield!!! I was born on 31st August 1981 in the town of Halifax (not very glamorous but hey!), West Yorkshire.Below I have written some random paragraphs ABOUT ME!At playschool I enjoyed painting, building blocks, fish tank, playground, milk in little glass bottles with blue straws, bikes and animals of some description hamsters or guinea pigs! At infant school I liked the huge tree at Christmas, treacle sponge afters, the big log, the wee wee corner, library, the trolley full of tambourines, maracas and little tablas which only the older kids could play! At Junior School I was in the band, choir and this is getting boring moving on to other subjects now.......For the past 18 years I have studied the art of drumming. Always wanted to play before the age of 7 and was probably influenced by the overall sound produced. I am now teaching people to play but am no way a master yet; I am still being educated and learning new stuff each week. I’ve also made it top priority to improve on other instruments which include the guitar, piano/synths and bugle.I have one older brother called Daniel, he is a quantity surveyor and has lots of dosh and his own house and cat etc… He used to be a keen painter and loves football, spends lots of cash on going to gigs and buying the latest adidas footwear! A major influence on my choice of style in bands, he got me into Oasis in 1994 and from there I expanded into many different genres. In 1998 I formed my first band Serotonin. I had always wanted to be a drummer in a big group so this was the start I guess. That group is now called FAR FROM THE DANCE and the rest is history. On a typical gig day we meet at Alecs, unload the equipment into the van from the garage, drive to the venue, unload at the venue, wait for soundcheck usually up to 40 mins, do soundcheck then come off store our gear and look for some delightful eatery, go back for the show, pack gear down, load out into the van, drive home, unload the van for the 4th time in the evening. The summer and current winter months of 2006 have been the craziest and busiest yet for the band. We completed a 45 date tour of the UK and have created quite a buzz I do hope. Happy times.Funnily enough my family’s roots lie in music. We were the proud owners of Thornton and Boothroyds shop in Brighouse from 1920-1945. It was indeed the place to go for a piano or violin. Walter Thornton (my great grandfather) was a keen pianist/cellist, influenced by his father Herbert who back in 1900 started his own business selling music manuscripts. So music is in my blood, when I was a child my grandfather told me he always wanted to play the drums, his father told him NO WAY AND SAID I'LL TEACH YOU CELLO OR PIANO! So as you can imagine I'm forfiling his dream now, unfortunately he never got into music and became a spitfire pilot instead! Rock&Roll! And he survived the war! I have been tracing my family tree now for 6 years and have got pretty far back all the way to 1845 or so!
All you need is love.We have just moved to London to release our album and to promote the band even more. I am working at Thomas Cook TV and this brings in the pennies!
