About Me

Artist’s StatementI’m not going to make the conventional statement about my art and you certainly won’t find a definition of my style on Wikipedia or in Webster’s Dictionary. Since I’ve never been into the whole dissection-of-my-work idea, I tend to resist the impulse to categorize myself with words like abstract, modern art, or any other traditional labels. I’ve always felt that because we are all products of our own conditioning, the beholder sees what they want anyway. As an artist, I accept and welcome the idea of the beholders’ absolute freedom and self-guided interpretation of my paintings and work. On the other hand, I realize that because my artistic expression is so personal, that my use of colors, my brush strokes and symbolism will inevitably bring the audience closer to my personal journey and meaning. So, I guess my work ties the beholder to me in some ways and at the same time it sets them free to interpret my art in their own way. I consider myself a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of artist; I paint what I feel so that the beholder can feel what they see.
