Awaken Iscariot (RECHER, JULY 5)

After every war of countless battles, victories, and failures, there is a time of bleak reconstruction. There is a quiet realization of how little is ever solved, and of how fending off adversity does not move you forward, but rather keeps you safely on square one. This time exists between each future, inevitable skirmish; held to spite the knowledge of their apparent uselessness.
And yet, there are few occasional glimmers of light in the darkest of battlefields and greyest of days. These moments remind us that we are all connected. That for all of the terrible things that we all do as human beings, there are innumerable glorious times of mercy, kindness, and humble understanding. And if we learn to take note of these instances (despite their infrequent and transitory nature), we can view this life as it truly is: a gift from a loving God. An opportunity to grow and love and be as God is, with all of His mercy and kindness and understanding. And to look back on the battles of life, dimly lit by the sparks of hope, we see that through them we have become complete and unbroken people of God.
