About Me

Here's a short boring story on how things got started:Jop and Martheun already knew each other from way back, they used to live in the same block and grew up together. Jop moved away to a whole other area in Hoogeveen (The Netherlands) which made their friendship too difficult to continue. A decade later they got reunited when Jop joined Point of few. With this band they toured, released a whole lot of vinyl and had a great three years. But everything has to end sometime, so they called it quits in 2001.After a sabbatical year, Jop & Martheun decided it would be good fun to continue their cooperation by starting a new band: GILGAMESH. The main difference would be that Jop took care of the rhythm section and the band would be more diverse than point of few. Tomas seemed like the perfect arty fit, to fill the spot of singer in this band. He’s originally from Enschede, but we didn’t hold that against him. Fokko played guitar the first year, knowing from the start he would leave the band within a year, since he would continue his studies in England. And that would be difficult to rehearse, when a sea is dividing the band. The same thing goes for Jip, this scene star left us to study history at the famous Berkeley University near San Francisco in the US.So, after Fokko left, Tomas’ little brother Nicolai filled the empty spot. He already played in a Emoband called ‘Kismet’ making music in the vein of Hot Snakes and Hot Water Music. After about a year Nicolai resigned because he couldn’t combine his bands with his study, so he had to make a choice. Maarten offered to fill his spot. He played in bands like Hole In One and Betercore, where he got the reputation of being a mean lean riffplaying machine. And his new band .Omission. is terrific, you should definately check them out! When Jip left to the US this summer, his empty place was filled by Jan (ex-Fetch). These are the basic changes, and we hope to continue with this five piece. We recorded seven songs at the Alien Music Studios with Ferdy Doldersum as the producer. He recorded bands like; Absorbed and Makiladoras; recordings we absolutely loved. So the choice to work with Ferdy was easy. Hectic Records soon showed interest after hearing the recordings. And so we decided to release a MCD WHICH IS OUT NOW!!!At this moment, we are planning a tour for the summer, playing fun shows in the near future and rehearsing our asses off. Thank you for checking out our my space, we appreciate it!
