The Life of Xcuses“I’ve been to the Dirty, I’ve lived out west, born up north, they say Midwest do it the best!” That’s right, a Midwest boy from the top of the country, here to show the world what Xcuses is about. 1986, in a little town up in Maine, Ryan Harrington was born. I can say I’m from, and lived up north, but I was raised here in the middle of the map, Wichita Kansas. After three years of living up by the coast in Maine, my family decided to move to Kansas. My dad was a chef for many many years, for 5 star hotels, and different restaurants. Working long hard hours, I didn’t see him as much as I wanted to. We lived in a little duplex, in a suburb of Wichita, Derby Kansas. I grew up there, running around as a normal athlete built, trouble making boy in the suburbs. My parents have always been together, so I cant say it was too hard for me, financially, yes, but not hard with my family. I played sports all my life because there just wasn’t anything else to do. Hockey, football, basketball, you name it. It wasn’t until junior high I discovered that I had an undying interest for writing music.I was a big fan of late rock stars like, Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, and Lynard Skynard. But there was jus something different about the art of hip hop. Listening to early Wu Tang Clan, Master P, Busta Rhymes, NWA, and Snoop Dogg. I began writing rhymes in a little notebook I kept with me in my backpack. Normally I kept it to myself, that I was writing. Being kind of shy about the fact I was rapping under the normal life of my own, I still worked hard on it. I was always big into the music industry, reading all the magazines, finding the underground music, and making mixtapes of material that wasn’t even out yet. I graduated from Derby High School, focusing on football, work, and friends. It was in high school that I met my wonderful girlfriend of four years now. She’s been a big influence in my life and got to thank her for the confidence that I have. Not even a half a year out of high school, I started focusing a lot on music, while I was intending to start a new family. Hanging out at the most recent apartment, where me and my close friend Jason could just hang loose, I met Ryan Gash. Gash was doing his thing, mostly for the strippers, and what not, ha-ha. But he surprisingly recorded some mixtape material that had lots of potential. Living on my own I was determined to do more with my life than just a nine to five. Hooking up with Gash gave me lots of opportunity. We started doing auditions at a local hole-in-the-wall bar early in our progress. That gave us the chance to get our name out there by performing. Writing in a shitty two bedroom apartment on a shitty Windows 98 computer, we worked with what we had. Still making MAGIC! After a couple of shows at the bars, We starting taking more and more on, so we looked on for more of the bigger cats in Wichita, well…Kansas for that matter. We booked our first bigger show about two months after all that, and that’s where we met Bilistic. Now we talked a lot online and met up so on and off, but it really wasn’t until that night where we got to show people what we really had. We hooked up perfectly, we were ready to make things happen and so was he, well excuse me he already was. After a bunch of worked together, we decided to sign with Bilistic and NewLife Records. They had more of a following and many more years experience. Early 2006 we were on our way. Flying to Panama City Beach Florida, there for MTVU, Spring Break. Opening for people like Three Six Mafia, Saun Paul, and Lil Wayne. Finding out early how the celebrity life is like, Ha-ha, and I cant say I hate it. This life has only just begun. After that we moved out to Phoenix AZ to make and record our compilation album, Bilistic presents.. NewLife Ryders. One of the best compilation albums on the planet I might add. Since then we have sold many unit of the Bilistic and Bri-J CD. Put out Gash’s first mixtape, just finished the NewLife Compilation Album, and putting out the first Timez2 Mixtape, The Awakening. And that’s just the beginning. Right now I have a Son that was born in November of 2006, and I’ve never been so proud of anything else ever quite like him. Watch out for Lil Nrgy! After my son was born, I had more of a reason to strive for this greatness in the music industry. He’s my life and my joy. My wonderful love in my life Sara. And I cant be more happier. The world is full of great musicians, ones of all kind. Ryan Harrington has anything to do with the music industry, its going to change in the near future! This is our time to shine, Xcuses, NewLife Records, here to stay!..
