Bootleg Woman

About Me

Bootleg Woman is a hard-hittin' in-your-face power trio from Salem, OR. We play original blues and progressive jams with classic, southern, hard, pychodelic influences, and we take no prisoners at a show!! Chicks dig us. Dudes want to be like us or beat us up. You'll love us! Now, why the name "Bootleg Woman"? It goes like this: A long time ago Sky Wescott had a group called "The Runnin' Shine Blues Band." It was a great band featuring some great players from the Santiam Canyon and Willamette Valley. But things got tough and around 2004 Sky disolved the band, but he still had gigs to play!! (What a dumb-ass!) So he enlisted the help of his long-time friend and gifted musician Marty Kona to play bass, and his respected high school buddy Cory Fraser to play drums for the last few gigs. More as a joke then anything else Marty suggested that just for these last few shows we should call the band Bootleg Woman after an old Moon Martin song from the 70's. Well, they played the shows as Bootleg Woman and low and behold something kinda special happened. The music was good and the people loved it. The energy that resulted was undeniable and we got more gigs as Bootleg Woman. Sadly after about a year or so of coming on strong, taking care of business, and playing some really good music, Marty had to retire due to health problems. Sky's good friend of many, many years Ted Larson stepped in to take over on the bass. Sky and Ted had also played together for years in the popular variety band "Canyon Fever", and later in "Runnin' Shine." Things have been going strong ever since: New friends have been made; the Bootleg Woman Army as been growing slowly but steady, and things feel more like family and friends than just a working relationship. We love playing together and we love the music we play.
