RAGNAROK is a special heavy metal night at Opium Rock Club in Edinburgh which was forged by DJ's and Metal Warriors Erik the Viking and Andros Hellhammer. Then, when these first brave warriors answered the echoing call of the four winds of destiny, Ragnarok, like the secret of steel, was handed down in the warrior tradition to those deemed worthy enough to continue the epic struggle. Thus the power was handed down from the mighty Viking and Hellhammer to two equally noble spirits - Ronin Steelheart and The Warlord - and the Ragnarok flame still burns brightly in their pure hearts, destined to rage forevermore.
Our aim is to bring the very best real metal from all around the world to the good people of Edinburgh, a healthy mixture of classics and contemporary, some you’ll know and most likely some you won’t… and we do solemnly swear to make sure we have a fuckin’ good time doing it! We play Power Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Trad. Metal… Speed, Viking, Thrash, Folk, Brutal, Progressive and Technical Metal and we may even throw in some Doom Metal when we're feeling slightly drunk and emotional. In fact, if you happen to have a great song by a short lived and little known Tibetan Satanic Black Metal band, bring it to us and we will probably give it a spin…
