I love to be outside & enjoy the beauty of this world. Some of the ways I get to do this: running, walking my pup, camping, hiking, skiing (which I'm sort of rusty on), snowboarding (I'm new to this one ~ and really bad, but it's fun!), chillin' at the beach (just learned how to scuba dive & LOVE IT!! /tanning/swimming/snorkeling/boating), and the beat goes on. I love playing & snuggling with my Boxer mutt, Buddy ~ he's super fun & loving. And of course I take full advantage of any chance I get to go home & hang out with my awesome family (both sides) ~ although that doesn't happen NEARLY as often as I'd like.
Of course Bob Barker has always been up there on the list; Adam Sandler, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dave Chappelle; I'd love to shake the hand of the dude who invented Wrigley's Extra peppermint flavored gum; Oprah Winfrey inspires me sometimes (solo, withOUT Dr. Phil); and even just one of these guys would be delightful: Tyrese Gipson, Johnny Rzeznik, 50 Cent, Matt Damon, Gavin Rossdale (Mmmmmm)
"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." --Aldous Huxley. I love just about all music ~ rap, R&B, hip-hop, rock, classical, jazz, country, Christian, etc., although I generally stick with the generic mainstream stuff. I love female vocalists ~ the ones that rotate through my car are: Natasha Bedingfield, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilara's newest stuff (surprisingly good), Kelly Clarkston (yeah, I know), Carrie Underwood, and Evanescence. Favorite artist of all times is definitely TuPac (Rest In Peace, Pac).
I can never remember the names of movies, or who was in them, so I'm not great at holding movie conversations; but I like comedies, sometimes dramas (although most of the time I can dish out enough of my own), and of course sappy romance flicks. I think The Little Mermaid is the greatest movie ever made, and I'm so stoked it finally released onto DVD!!
Not a real big TV person...I just don't think today's television can compare to VH1's "Pop-up Videos" from the early '90s. But if I have to pick a few, of course Friends and Sex & The City are always my number 1 & 2 picks. More recently, however, my guilty pleasures Grey's Anatomy, Lost, The Unit & Heroes. Other shows I like to catch, but I don't lose sleep if I don't, are: The Simpsons (Bart & Homer, not Jessica & Ashlee...just in case there was any question), The Family Guy, True Hollywood Stories (LOVE them...can't quite figure out why though), CSI, That '70's Show, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.
My favorite book time is lying in bed at night with my sweet husband, and him reading to me ~ we finished the Harry Potter series just before the baby was born, and now we need a new series to start! I love reading anything by Nora Roberts and Maeve Binchy, as well as inspirational stories like those from the "Chicken Soup" series. Probably one of the best reads in the past couple years was "A Company of Heroes" by Michael Durant, written about his time in captivity in Mogadishu, Somalia. In my to-read stack right now: "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, and the Da Vinci series, "Flyboys" by James Bradley. Oh yeah, and the "greatest story ever told" (aka the Bible) ~ one of these days I'm gonna make it through that one.
"Success is achievable without public recognition, and the world has many unsung heroes. The teacher who inspires you to pursue your education to your ultimate ability is a success. The parents who taught you the noblest human principles are a success. The coach who shows you the importance of teamwork is a success. The spiritual leader who instills in you spiritual values and faith is a success. The relatives, friends, and neighbors with whom you develop a reciprocal relationship of respect and support--they, too, are successes. The most menial workers can properly consider themselves successful if they perform their best and if the product of their work is of service to humanity." --Michael DeBakey, M.D. My Mom is my hero, because she is the most amazing woman I know. My brave husband, Will, is another ~ "Heroes take journeys, confront dragons, and discover the treasure of their true selves." --Carol Pearson.
