BIO..
Acoustic artist Eric Norris is a California native born on the infamous street of Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, CA. The musical journey began for him at a young age with the introduction to Johnny Cash from his Dad and John Denver with his Mom. At the age of 17, inspired by punk rock music he received his first guitar as a Christmas present from his parents. A short two and a half years later, he found himself on stage playing with Green Day, the band that originally fueled his desire to be a musician.
In his first semi-successful hurrah he played in the Drive-Thru Records band Unleaded Plus, in which he played guitar, sang backup vocals and contributed to the songwriting. Unleaded Plus sold out the Roxy twice, a NOFX after party, and played shows with bands; Less Than Jake, Pharmaceutical Bandits, The Hippos, Fenix TX (Riverfenix), Homegrown, Jefferies Fan Club, & Mothermania, etc. They set off to do their first tour in support of their album “Yearbook”. Then a handful of bands later Eric joined up with the project band Thrillswitch featuring members James Ramsey ..boards and Vocals, Chris Knapp of the Ataris, on drums, Zac "The Butcher" Hunter of the Nerve Agents on guitar and Eric playing guitar, bass, & backup vocals and collaberated in songwriting.
Through this whole time Eric had been songwriting all the while. So the next logical step for Eric was to take full command on lead vocals with his prolific array of music and formed the punk/indie rock band Born On Sunset, of which was named after him being born on the infamous street. In Born On Sunset’s 3 year history they released 2 Cd’s. “The Life Artistry EP” (2003) recorded at Rude Recordings in Long Beach with Producer/Engineer John Corenbaum and “Chapters Of Our Lives” (2005) Recorded at Citrus College recording studios in Azusa Ca. Engineered by Mike Sherlock and Produced by Mike Bajrami and Born On Sunset. They played over 60 shows, at venues such as The Whisky A Go-Go, UCLA, Chain Reaction, Skate Jam 1, 2, 3, @ Malibu Skate Park, The Knitting Factory, The Cat Club, Zen Sushi, Lava Lounge, etc. And played with such bands as The Starf*ckers, The Mormons, Chaser, B Foundation, New Maximum Donkey, Ninja Academy, A.D.H.D, The Amplifiers, The Letteropeners, Blackbird, The Generators, Meet me at the Pub, Spider, The Scuffs, and many more. And also performed some acoustic shows as well.
His vast amount of songs and experiences Eric has under his belt, most of his songs are about love, life, death, pain and learning how to cope. Eric’s songs can be classified as melodic meaningful songs that capture the essence of real emotions of life, love, and the meaning of why we are here. “I’ve never felt so strong about anything in my life; these songs have a real truth and meaning that people can really relate to. I strongly believe in what I am doing, and to be a success you have to truly believe in what you do and what you represent. I will be continuing to do this for the rest of my life.”
