About Me

Back at school when I was young, I had a Ghanian teacher and his name was Mr. John..he used to say "son! dont make me give you fried Cornflakes and hot Ice cream" so I bounced and got into doing nice things like EVIL...

Str8face is a producer, songwriter with rhyme skills second to none...thats my opinion so forget what you heard. My passion for music started from the womb, i was kicking when old man played his Motown classics i've been told and the passion has grown in leaps since i figured out how to work the turntables as a child. In my teens like most of my peers i was heavily into the music scene in urban America following groups like Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim, Pete Rock & CL smooth, EPMD, Gang starr, Cypress Hill, Wu tang Clan, Onyx, NWA, The Geto boys, GUY, TLC and Jodeci to mention the more obvious ones! I began writing my own rhymes and practicing to breaks off old records in the yard...funny how that sounds in retrospect, i would later try my own version of sampling and looping using old TDK cassette tapes and a tape recorder. In 1997 i met H who became my musical twin and brother from another mom, we started practicing spitting together and sharing our musical ideas. This lead to us forming our duo "2F" and we started making our own beats and lacing them with our heavily influenced West/South side of US style of MCing with the grit of the East coast bars. Together we made two albums independently and after four years the group became bigger with the addition of friends Sibelle and Serious Jones, I was to face more changes as an artist soon after as i became increasingly particular about my style and the content of my music..this lead to our decisions as a group to start working on solo projects and in 2003 my EP dropped entitled "I'm here" a rough collection of tracks showcasing my skills as an upcoming producer, MC and entertainer! Tracks from the EP were received with varying critique..."Shake it" a track featuring Sibelle and a Roger Troutman sample got airplay on local radio stations, fellow comrades in the game Sway and Pyrelli saw the potential and had their pick of tracks from the EP too and supported the movement with advice for me at the time while we hustled our CD's outside the raves. Life goes on they say and for me it was the start of a new day when work for my second release and first official solo album "Stimuli" started to get assembled, i took my time on this effort and handled all the work and business more strategically which in turn would affect the time taken to follow up my EP!

Finally in the mad summer of 2005...i say mad and my real people know whats up! My second release off my newly formed independent label Morz8 Recordz was on the streets for the haters to ignore and the fans to snap up. I worked with fewer artists on this album unlike my first as this had three features including appearances from Sibelle, Grymey D and new comer Mattic. Despite the originality of Stimuli there was a shortage of any response from the media that had been exposed to the twenty one track deep classic. Dj's like Choice's Phoebe One, Itch FM's Dj Penfold and Kung Fu's Dj Sarah Love showed their support and responded with positive feedback of the work on the album. The time since then has been an intermittent collaboration situation with artist friends while work on the next album is in progress, as an artist i have grown and also gotten to know what i feel most at home with and the next dose of Str8face will come as a shock to the doubters and haters...take all the time to analyze that! To all the supporters over the years and the new fans it is not far away what will be like water in a desert to your ears and expectations when the untitled album is complete...so stay tuned.I'm still Str8..on and off endz!!
