Hi every one, welcome to the information site for our wedding in Santorini on May 27th 2007, we are getting married at the Santorini Cathedral in Fira the capital town on the island at 7pm.
If you want more info about Santorini please go to www.greeka.com this is a good site.
I just wanted to give you some info on the wedding we are having in May before you all receive the official invitations next month.
We are planning to get married in Santorini a small island off the coast of Greece on May 27th the Sunday before the Bank Holiday at 630pm, the church is in the town of Fira and is the cathedral of Santorini and the reception will be at the Vedma resort in Megalochori, the church and reception are 10 minutes apart.
I want to make it clear in advance I do not expect everyone to come to the wedding, it is outside of the UK, a lot of you have children that may make it difficult to attend and for most people it will mean taking either a week or a long weekend out of you schedules to attend.
Wedding Information
Santorini info
Here are a few web sites that will give you an idea of the island. It is very beautiful and the weather should be in the high Eighties in May.

If you are intending to come to the wedding there are about thirty towns on the island you can chose to stay, the island itself is only about twenty five miles long and you can easily drive from one end to the other in a couple of hours.
The beach towns I have seen and have stayed and can recommend are Kamari and Perissa; they are very typical Greek beach holiday destinations, they have huge long beaches very popular with Italians, Greek and British, lots of bars, restaurants and there is a very good range of accommodation from self catering studios from a 100 pounds a week to high end resorts. Both resorts are about fifteen minutes from the church and the reception
Fira is the capital of the island, most of the hotels here are based in the Caldera which is a steep hill over looking the bay, it is by far the most popular destination on the island due to the romantic sunsets and the white washed hotels, there is no beach in Fira and most hotels have small pools. All the best clubs are in Fira and they all stay open to 5am J, It is also the most expensive destination for hotels so be warned, it is very easy to get from Kamari and Perissa to Fira for diner and dancing.
Vedema Info
The wedding will be at the Vedema Resort a 400 year old winery in the tiny village of Melgalohori, as we don’t know the weather we will either be outside by the pool or in the wine cellar inside. The resort is in the middle of the island, it would be great is you could all stay at the resort but I know that price has to be a factor, room start at 295 Euros a night, also its is a very relaxed and laid back and may not suit those wth kids, if you ewant to book a room or discuss rates please call Maria on +302286081796 to make any reservations. The resort is about 15 minutes from the airport, Kamri and Perissa and twenty minutes from Fira
If you are not staying at the resort there will be a coach at the end of the night to take you back to your hotels where ever you stay on the island.

There are 2 ways to get to Santorini for the wedding
Option 1 – go for a week and make a holiday out of it.
Take a UK package holiday, this may seem extreme and for those who only want to come for a weekend not the best plan ,all of the major tour operators have package holidays to Santorini, flights are on a Tuesday from London Gatwick and Tuesday from Manchester, please note there are no other direct flights to the island except these.
First Choice have packages from 225 pounds upwards (May 22nd to May 29th. http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/santorini/
Thomas Cook has packages from 309 pounds per person (from May 22nd to May 29th)

Accommodation can be very cheap and I strongly advise those who are coming to book early to get the best prices. There are literally hundreds of hotels on most of the resorts. If you want to look a larger range of hotels then you can call Dial a flight, they have a flight and hotel package to suit most budget you can call Jacob on 02072937929
Option 2 – go for the weekend
Go for the bank holiday weekend, this is more complicated because you need to fly to Athens with Easy Jet, BA or Olympic then take Olympic flight to (Thira ) Santorini from Athens, you can’t book with Easy Jet for a few months but the flights are from 25 pounds per person. You then need to take a 30 minute flight with Olympic Airlines to Santorini, you can travel both flights with Olympic.
