The Sexy Bang

About Me

To book the Sexy Bang: email [email protected] Sexy Bang (often abbreviated TSB) is a progressive American indie rock band formed in 2005 in Minneapolis, MN. Elements of the Sexy Bang's early sound have been likened to or inspired by Modest Mouse, Tapes n' Tapes, the Strokes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and numerous other alternative rock bands. The original members of the band are singer/lyricist/guitarist Joe Krelt, drummer Joe Sederberg, bassist An Hong, and tombonist Evan Taylor. Guitarist Steve Pease joined the band in May 2007 to work on the debut album, "Signals From Sputnik," self-released in November 2007.After an interview and live radio performance on Twin Cities Radio DJ Jazzy J said, “These fine musicians, The Sexy Bang, showed everybody what the heart of music is really all about. These guys are the poster band for the heart of rock n roll.”In January 2008 the song “Our Bodies Don’t Know Better” was selected as one of three Songs of the Week by MNartists.org/MnSpin.Krelt and The Bang are busy writing and recording music for their first full-length, due out sometime in 2008.Feel free to listen and let us know what you think. Zip it up; and zip it out.
Venues we've played (not that this is any real barometer of how good of a band we are): The Turf Club, 7th Street Entry, the 400 Bar, the Fine Line, the Nomad World Pub, the Uptown Bar & Café, Big V’s, the French Press, Club Underground, Stasiu's Place, at a barn party, and one of our favorites, Canada Chad’s.We’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with numerous local and national musical artists, most notably (and enjoyably): the Safes, Cities, the Alarmists, Pela, Friends Like These, (R.I.P.) Airports & Atlases, Return to the Motel, and Mouthful of Bees. We hope that as we continue to take our unique perspective towards indie rock (guitar, bass, drums & trombone) such opportunities continue in the future.
