About Me
The Rude Mechanicals is a theater company at Shepherd University devoted to performing socially conscious productions of medieval and Renaissance drama. The Rude Mechanicals have been Shepherd University's Medieval and Renaissance Theatre Troupe for more than 8 years. Led by Director Betty Ellzey, The Rude Mechanicals have performed a variety of plays including "Mankind," "Everyman," "The Second Shepherds' Play," "Hamlet," "Troilus and Cressida," "Measure for Measure," and many other scenes from both Medieval and Renaissance genres.Since its formation, The Rude Mechanicals have had the honor of performing for many audiences, not only in its hometown of Shepherdstown, but also in Wahington, D.C., and Groningen, Netherlands, with plans for visiting Denmark in 2007.Thanks to many dedicated students and alumni filling in the cast and crew of the troupe, The Rude Mechanicals will continue to bring theatre to the masses for years to come.
