Wesley Precourt, a San Diego native, received his Artist Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles under the instruction of Robert Lipsett. An alumnus of the University of Southern California, where he studied with the same teacher, Wesley enjoys a diverse and exciting performance career. He has appeared as a soloist with the Chandler, La Jolla, Torrance, and Grossmont Symphonies. As a recitalist he has been featured by the Musical Merit Foundation and on the Music at Founder’s Hall series, among others. Wesley was also a performer at the dedication ceremony of the Heifetz Studio at the Colburn School of Performing Arts.
When Wesley was nine years old, he won the La Jolla Symphony’s Donna Christmas Hayward award for the most promising young musician. He subsequently won numerous awards at international and national competitions, such as the prestigious Spotlight Awards of Los Angeles, the NFAA ARTS award, the Kingsville International Competition, the ASTA National and Regional Competitions, and the Musical Merit Foundation of Greater San Diego.
Wesley’s chamber music accolades include residencies at the Banff Centre for the Arts, ENCORE School for Strings, and a joint Paris Conservatory-USC concert tour in France. Being a firm believer in the breadth of musical experience, Wesley is actively involved with a variety of performance genres. He is currently involved in a new ambient project with Los Angeles-based songwriter Jonathan Haskell, called Firs. Their debut album will be available later this year.
Wesley performs on a violin made by Leandro Bisiach Sr. in Milan in 1919.
