Nathaniel Lee, Jr., actor, musician, music producer, born on September 10, 1989
in Clinton, Mississippi. Nate Jr. started playing drums at the early age of 3 years from his dad who also had been a drummer in both high school and in college and later with local bands. He began performing with his brother at his church and at another local church at the age of 6 years. He began piano lessons at age 7 but in 4th grade chose the viola to learn in the school orchestra. This is where he was recognized as being quite gifted in music.
Nathaniel and his family moved to Long Beach,California where his acting career took him to a character, Jr., who had to play a didley-bow, PBS's "Warming by the Devil's Fire", This sparked an old interest in the guitar which he had also picked up from his dad at an even earlier age. He took lessons from the local great Bernie Pearl(DJ of 88.1 KJAZZ).
In middle school Nate, Jr. was asked to play the upright bass for the Stanford Middle school orchestra under the direction of Stephany Carter. He also began practicing on his dad's bass guitar and eventually began to learn even more about the bass by playing for his local church , The Rock Christian Fellowship. There he played and learned from the pianist Stephan McPhearson. He and his brother continued to perform in local churches around Southern California and at the ages of 12 and 13 they released their first gospel album where he played all of the instruments on the album.
In high school(Millikan High) opportunities continued to present themselves to him where he was asked to direct the gospel choir in which he also played piano. That year he also was blessed with the opportunity to open for Yolanda Adams at The Vault 350 in Long Beach, one of the premiere venues in Southern Cali. As his musical abilities grew, he switched schools and started attending Long Beach Poly High, a Grammy Signature school under the direction of Chris Stevens. Long Beach Poly is a contender in the Reno Jazz Festival,Fullerton Jazz Festival and the Irvine Jazz Festival(some of largest jazz festivals on the west coast). After a combo gig opening up for Barbara Morrison at the historic Queen Mary, which he nabbed thru Naomi Rainey, President of the Long Beach NAACP branch, he was introduced to Richard Taylor. Soon after he began taking lessons. He then began to get into Hip-Hop and fell under the arms of K.P. Wilson(Producer for Tupac Shakur and many more) He then got his own computer and started producing his own tracks. He later started to play for Tim "Bishop" Brown and the Miracle Mass Choir. He was also blessed with the opportunity to play for Dr. Myles Monroe(BFMI Ministries) in Tuscan, AZ. That summer he was accepted in to the 2007 Grammy Camp. He was honored to play with Earth, Wind and Fire and meet with my other music greats. He also started as senior in the historic Multi-School Jazz Band headed by the great Reggie Andrews(Dazz Band). In 2007, he began to play for West Angeles C.O.G.I.C.'s Teen Church where he still plays. He has played or is playing for Rozzie Daime (Sa-Ra) J. Henrey, Aloe Blacc, B.Mason, U-N-I, Grammy Award Nominee Manuel Romero, and Nikki Ross just to name a few. Nathaniel has played all over Southern Cal: The Roxy, Steamers, Temple Bar, The Good Hurt and The ZanziBar ect. He currently lives in Long Beach California and is a senior.
