Playing basketball after school, video games, and doing all the other things kids do as they grow up was definitely an important part of Larry Jones' aka L2thaJ's life as he thinks back to his younger years but with those fun memories come the harsh realities one must face growing up in an area such as Houston's Northside (along Crosstimbers and Jensen). Being raised in the northeastern part of the city in an area widely known as Trinity Garden L2thaJ observed his lifestyle and the lives of those around him with the precision of a microscope. Growing up in a single parent home as many children do (due to his father's death) L2thaJ had to face life obstacles and learn life lessons on his own without the help of a father figure. With these lessons he learned to navigate through the ghetto while maintaining a level head and staying focused on the dreams he knew he wanted for himself as well as what his family wanted for him. Greenspoint, Acres homes, and Trinity Garden were just some of the northside areas that helped shape L2thaj into who he is now. Starting off as a usual fan of hip hop music from listening to his big sisters rap tapes L2thaJ knew he could express himself poetically and lyrically if he put his mind to it. The older he got the more and more expressive he became which launched him into the lyricist he is today. In 2001, L2thaj's cousin introduced him to a friend who produced music. Over several months of visiting and freestyling on some tracks L2thaj aligned with Wish and Treyac Records as well as forming Green-Sky Records with the intent to put out some of the best music in Houston. Now with two mixtapes under his belt and even more heat to come L2thaj is definitely Houston's new underground leader. Choosing to focus his style on all aspects and emotions of music L2thaj has big plans for 2006 and beyond. After purchasing a microphone and pro tools along with a cd duplicator and other equipment...oh yeah and a million dollar dream he's had since birth, L2thaj is poised for big, big things. Green-Sky Records is now official.
