For over 25 years, I have played guitar and bass in many bands and musical projects. I am currently playing guitar for the Chicago based band The Emerald Lizards , we are a primal rock and roll band with garage and punk roots. We have released an album titled Electric Earthquake.
I am also currently playing guitar and bass in a musical project called Variety Show , we are a songwriting duo working in a variety of styles.
Here's a rundown of bands that I've been in the past.
In Washington D.C.:
Government Issue - Bass, 1980-81. A mainstay of the the D.C. hardcore scene, I was the bass player in the original line-up and played on their first e.p. "Legless Bull", on Dischord.
Assault and Battery - Guitar, 1980-81, We gigged but never recorded. After I moved to Chicago, members of this band went on to form Artificial Peace , who appeared on Dischord's Flex Your Head compilation, and later were in Marginal Man who released records on Dischord.
In Chicago:
Savage Beliefs - Guitar, 1982 - 84, sort of a hardcore band, but not exactly, we played mostly with other bands on the Chicago hardcore scene. We released an e.p. " The Moral Efficiency of Savage Beliefs " on Wasteland, and were included on WNUR's " Middle of America " Compilation album. Our bass player, Dave Riley later went on to play in Big Black. Here's a cool video of us from '83, that's me singing!
The Watchmen, 1986 - 89. A proto-alternative rock band. We gigged extensively in Chicago and the upper midwest. We released a split album with our friends Permabuzz - The Watchmen on one side Permabuzz on the other. Yes kids, albums used to have two sides. Our song "Garbage Shuttle to the Sun" was also included on the "Achtung Chicago" compilation.
Buzzmuscle - Guitar, 1990 - 93. A jagged aggro-pop band featuring the songwriting of Rob Warmowski, formerly of Chicago surf punkers the Defoliants and the drumming of Dave Schleitweiler formerly of the Bhopal Stiffs. We released two e.p.s "Assembler," and "Comedian" on Perishable. Fun Buzzmuscle facts - our e.p. " Assembler " was modeled after Oscar Mayer bacon packaging, the disc was a picture disc of bacon, and the sleeve featured a die-cut for viewing a "representative slice." It was included in an exhibit of contemporary design at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
The Indicators - Guitar, 1994-96, a return to punk rock, featuring Paul Zamost formerly of The Effigies. We released an eponymous album, and two singles "Conservative" and "Ride Out / Back in the Line" on VML.
