EL OMBLIGO

About Me

Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net
... Come to dance and trip with the freaky acoustic follk of el ombligo.... Listen to the sound that the new world is shaping.
El ombligo, World music, Sudacan music, chicano music, mediterranean music.
El ombligo (meaning navel in spanish) is founded by:
Gustavo, born in Chiapas Mexico. Since a kid he has been in touch with music. He has played in Europe, Mexico and NYC with many diverse ensembles. His wide musical vocabulary enables him to play from Heavy fusion to real chapanecan folk.
Benni , born in Germany and played viola most of his life. He has won competitions and played with different european musicians. He is part of a new group of string players that devote themselfs to jazz and new improvised music. He rides a cool Vespa.
Andreas, born in Athens, Greece. He first played guitar and played with many blues and jazz bands untill he decided to play trumpet... since that he has deeply inmersed himself in a search for a very unique and personal sound with the instrument.
Since Gustavo Grajales became a very important diplomatic figure for the chapenecan people he is now back in Mexico, nevertheless he is still part of the band. But that doesnt mean El ombligo is finished or changed, on Drums for the European version of the Ombligo we have: Luis Chaves Candeias , from Portugal. Emerging from Lisbon's Metal and Fado scenel. He is vegetarian and sometimes uses little maracas to spice up his drumset.
I almost forget..... Santiago, born in Bogota, Colombia. He just plays the bass.
