Spinach

There are many claims about the origin of Spinach. Africans ground Spinach into stews as early as the 15th century. The Chinese have crushed Spinach into creamy sauces for centuries. Civil War soldiers dined on 'Spinach porridge.' These uses, however, bore little resemblance to Spinach as it is known today.
