About Me

During 2008, I have been a very busy musician indeed. I have spent the summer playing biker rallies for the NABD, which has done wonders for my stage presence and performance. I have been lucky enough to play for Becca Williams as one of her Broken Biscuits, culminating (for me) in a gig at the School of Sound Recording's dedicated live venue in Manchester; a great memory, and one that will someday appear on Youtube, no doubt! It's with great sadness that I had to stop playing for Becca due to time constraints, but it gives me the opportunity now to really concentrate on writing some new songs of my own, which have been long in the pipeline.
In the past, I have played in bands such as Minusoneraver (2001-2005), Windmill (2007), Becca and the Broken Biscuits (2008) and acting as live FOH sound engineer for GeEkgiRL (2005-2008). I was also involved in setting up and running Rocket Fuelled Records with GeEkgiRL until very recently; I've had to clear a lot of space in my life to allow me to concentrate on my own music, and my own voice.
Consequently, I am going to pretty much wipe my music player ready for a completely new batch of songs to arrive. Historically, I’ve always found it easier to write a song about heartbreak than about true love; there could be lots of reasons for this, but the most obvious is that I kept getting involved with people who didn’t make me happy! I’ve shied away from love songs at the risk of sounding cheesy, or clichéd (which they can be, if they are forced) – but about a year ago I met someone who blew me away, and I can’t help but want to express that feeling, because it is more real than anything bad in my past. I have fallen in love, with a lady who reflects my own heart, and I am excited to see where our lives go together - my new songs will definitely have a taste of that joy running through them, because real joy and love seep into everything a person does when they’re happy. It’s partly why I am over-hauling this page, clearing the way for something new… I’ve grown up a lot this year, looked at parts of myself that were hidden, and brought them into the light – with more than a little help from the lady I consider my ‘true north’. I’ve also shed negative attachments in many areas, which hasn’t been easy at times, and is why I’ve been a little quiet on the song-writing front. But now the music is flowing again, and the words I’ve written in books all over the house can come to life… 2009 marks the next era, and it will show positively in my writing. I hope you will enjoy it as much as me.
My first album, which I released in 2003, is still available to buy; - or you can get it from me at gigs, if you feel the inclination for a copy!
