What is the nuclear of human nature? Is it good? Or is it evil? Someone says human nature is good. Let's assume you are a cold blooded, horrible, and crude murderer. If one day, you see an innocent child standing in the middle of the street and is about to be hit by a speeding car. Your instinct will definitely make you save the child. Therefore, human nature is good in the center. Someone says human nature is evil. Let's say you are a decent man. There is someone who has been trying to kill you many times. Now you see him accidentally fall out of the bridge. He is trying his best to hang on and stay alive. You will no doubt go ahead and force to him fall to his death. Therefore, human nature is bad. So, what is the bottom line of human nature? I think human nature is like rolling dice. Everybody has three dice in their heart. Generally speaking, each die has three sides of good and three sides of evil. The behavior of a human being is determined by the result of throwing these dice in a particular moment. I also believe that somebody might have more sides of good than the rest of the others and vices a versa. Human nature is not a constant. Uncertainty principle surely applies to human nature.
This is the situation. You are the most powerful person in the country beside the King. You need to make sure your country is in order and everyone is loyal and faithful. You are the leader of your country.
Your father has murdered an innocent citizen. What would you do?
In western philosophy, you should arrest your father and punish him with the law that your country has. This is the right thing to do since he is guilty. Western attitude is to obey the truth. As Aristotle said " I love my teacher (Plato), but I love the Truth even more". We should always look at the higher level and aim it as the ultimate goal.
In eastern philosophy, you will see the complete opposite behavior. One should try to accomplish the good from bottom up. In another word, maintain a good fundamental is more important than just go high. Your father gave you life and breed you. Your basic responsibility is to treat him as best as you can. If you are willing to turn him to the law, you basically break your fundamental conscience. It is like you are constructing a building without a dependable base, no matter how high it is, it will collapse eventually.
