Goldenkid, born in the culturally diverse Toronto, Canada to Jamaican parents started off in the music business at the age of 13-14 in 8th grade. Due to the boom of the Soundman/Selector(reggae d.j.) in the late 80's early 90's, Goldenkid quickly adopted the skills of a honed turntablist playing parties and juggling the hottest hits whenever he got a chance. His ear for great music without question seperated himself from the rest of his peers. Mixing Reggae, Hip Hop, and R&B was his forte' and he took it very seriously.
STATS Goldenkid then moved south to Maryland, U.S.A., where he was quickly saturated by the sounds of Go-Go music native to Washinton D.C. Fiending to D.J. and bring more Reggae & Hip- Hop to the local scene, Goldenkid networked with many Bands, D.J.'s, and Emcee's. Though during his move south across the border he had left his turntables in Canada and just brought his records to the States, Goldenkid didn't have the tools to spin the hottest tunes in area clubs nor did he have the resources to get Technics 1200's. So with the burning desire to do music flaming through his veins, he was left to do nothing but freestyle to various beats.
STATS By now Goldenkid enrolled at Morgan State University in Baltimore and resided on campus at the grimey dorm in the woods called O.C. Many late nights when he should be studying, Goldenkid was up freestyling with the best Emcee's B-more had to offer. Eventually, by never going to class Goldenkid was never able to complete the 4 years needed at Morgan State to graduate, so he brought his newly crafted freestyle skills back to the D.C. Metropolitan area.
STATS At this time, Goldenkid got some turntables and returned to the D.J.'s life and spun in the reggae rooms at THE RITZ, D.C. LIVE, CLUB 2K9, KAFFA HOUSE, THE SETTINGS, KING SOLOMON LODGE, THE DRAGON CENTER, CLUB HOLLYWOOD, TEHMERRIES & CROSSROADS and other various night clubs. While fresh from a academically poor year in college Goldenkid met famed underground freestyle wizard named SKY NATURAL and formed the group known today as NORTHSTARR INTANATIONAL(N.S.I.).
STATS Throughout the years N.S.I. has had many dope members but due to the lifstyle changes and unpredictable events, many of them are no longer with the crew. The current N.S.I. crew consists of Goldenkid, Sky Natural, & Sleepwalker, with plenty other associates networking and helping this underground legendary crew spread the word. In a time where music is forever changing and saturated with monotone vibes, N.S.I brings a mixture of flavor to the market.
STATS Northstarr Int' is fluent in writing and performing Reggae, Hip Hop and R&B hits!....It has been a very long road for Goldenkid since the Kaffa House days with FREESTYLE UNION to now-a-days droping fire verses with the ISH MASTERS Band...But the grind will never stop!!... Currently working on the NORTHSTARR INTA'NATIONAL mixtape/cd and other original projects, Goldenkid loves to move the crowd and you may see him at a club near you!!
