About Me

The music I get to play is a wonderful tonic to the woes of the world. To surrender to a grove and feel the music flow through me, and out of my hands and feet is a feeling beyond compare. Perhaps I could relate it to the endorphin rush of a long distace runner? I'll go anywhere, anytime to play! I've been fortunate to have been able to forge associations with musicians along my drumming journey, who have turned into friends who will last my lifetime. Paul Nunzio Maceli, Kevin Lord, Dennis Tyhaz, Luke McCartney, Rachel Sheline, Paul Hubel, Brian swartz, Derrick Forunier, Rich Valetta, and the inimitable Jombe - all have played a part in the various phases along the way. Thanks to all! You're the very definition of "you rock" (-- silly statement, and way over used!)I'm the drummer for Acoustic Trauma (www.acoustictrauma.com). We're telling you; there's no reason to resit the fact that we're loud and pushing "Acoustic" music past it's limits. We're Acoustic Trauma. No One sounds like us - We've got an amazing live DVD/CD release which I highly recommend. It's a live show we did at the Trauma House (a quaint 1970's era domiclie - repleat with much in the way of facinating furnishings and wall hangings)! Personally, I think, if you like music - you'll love the DVD/CD.I play for Subzero too... (www.subzerorocks). We're a cover band out to have a fun time and get people up, dancing, drunk, and happy. Drunk and happy means happy bar owner, and that means we get to come back!I also get to play with The Sound Mirrors (www.thesoundmirrors.com). They're a couple guys from Brooklyn who needed a drummer and asked me to play. Of course I said "F-Yeah!!" (actually I said "FUCK YEAH") I did much of the drumming on their 2 CDs. I've also been fortunate to have had many very cool NYC adventures because of them - VERY cool adventures!! The writing partnership of Luke and Dennis is a perfect blend of inter-twining guitars and harmonies, strong beats and solid lyrical work. Recently Luke McCartney and I have created "the Good Bad Guys". It's a different project altogether, as the basis is simplified very emotional acoustic guitar/vocal songs augmented with tom rhythms and grooves. It's still growing and changing and the CD which comes from this will be very moving.I think I'm a damned lucky guy to be associated with all 4 bands. Great people and great music, and each one a very distinct and different experience. Plus, My Dr. told me today at my physical that "whatever you're doing keep it up - you're in amazing health".Drumming = peace of mind

Influences: Drumming - Phil Collins- when he was just a drummer in a band. For his imagination and use of fantastic sounds to augment the music. Terry Bozzio for his melodic approach to the drums. His technique and facility are World Class. Neil Peart for his precision and thoughtful way of creating the right part for the music. I respect his humble nature greatly. John Theodore for reinventing bombast and infusing it with taste and dynamics. I also really like Taylor Hawkins. He’s "simple" in that he plays the song (with out over playing) but the parts he comes up with are complex and intense. The real truth is everybody! Good or bad, they’re an influence. I learn all the time. From everybody.Music - Genesis, Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Brand-X, Kraftwerk, King Crimson, Zeppelin, Zappa, Public Radio!!!... It’s easier to say what I don’t like. I don’t listen to whining emo. I don’t listen to hardcore. I admit it... I don’t get it! I am not a big fan of country music, but I think country music musicians are some of the best in the world. My wife, Christine and children, Nikki and Tyler have been the biggest influence on my life though. The lessons they've taught me along the way of how to love, how to laugh, how to grow have been the ones which made the deepest impressions. I'm grateful for them!
