HOCKEY PLAYERS: The cockiest, dirtiest, most irresponsible group of athletes in the world! We'll do ANYTHING and come back to tell our teammates about it. Ladies love us, guys want to be us. You lace up the skates, put on the mits, strap on the bucket, and walk on to the ice and nothing else matters. It doesn't matter that the old lady is mad at you, or that you got a ticket on the way to the rink...your world is absolutely perfect for the next couple hours. Cheers to the original 6, give and go's, OT and shootouts, cycling, tip ins, road trips, the smells of the rink, the broken down zam, breakaways, top shelf, cold ass morning practice, thousands of dollars, hitting the crossbar, pinching d-men, "center ice", broken twigs, new wheels, rookies, Coach, adding the letter "y" to the end of everyone's last name, the great one, pick up, scraps and yard sales, miracles, "eh?" and most of all - THE GAME ITSELF. "Now that's Hockey!" Why do you skate down and back every shift!? Why does Palmer skate so hard he throws up? Skate so hard your heart beat rings in your head, while your lungs are gasping for air. Late nights followed by early mornings, falsies, pulled muscles, sprains and deep bruises. We skate through it all because we live off the adrenaline. Because the game frees your spirit and your mind. Because of the party in the parking lot! Because you're invincible once you step on the ice. Because a shot can make you smile all night and maybe into tomorrow. The rattling of the boards, the feel of the puck. Really?....Why? We do it because we LOVE it!
