Children of the CPU are the new-rave old-timey wood-grained nouveau-post-electro-pop duo of synthesizer-geek Cameron and singer Veronica. Back to BASIC, released in December 2005, is our first album. (Back to BASIC got re-mixed in late 2006 and has been re-released in early 2007)
In the welcoming space that is his treehouse bedroom and studio, Cam took his love of synthesizers, 80s new wave, indie pop, 8-bit computers, and shag carpeting to new heights.
Cam's darkly optimistic lyrics are infused with life, depth and soul courtesy of Veronica's dark and misty vocals. Their parents were computers in dark rooms. Despite all the darkness their music still has moments of lightness.
Children of the CPU listen to a lot of Ladytron, Baxter, Figurine, Stereolab, the Postal Service, Everything but the Girl, Erlend Oye, and Depeche Mode, but we always wished Depeche Mode was fronted by a girl.
