In the mid-eighties I came to Nashville as a Belmont student. Within the first year I managed to progress from a jingle company intern on music row to a full time staff engineer. The demands of recording ultimately brought school to a halt and my career to a running start. I briefly focused on artist management and development from 1988-1991. I worked with artists in the emerging Nashville rock scene including Judson Spence, Walk The West, Fleming and John, Thurn and Taxis and others. Since then, I have been primarily dedicated to production and engineering.
In the past twenty years, I've been able to work with some amazing people in all types of music. I mixed Jewel’s mega hit single “You Were Meant For Me.†I have produced and engineered projects for TobyMac, Jaci Velasquez, Tree 63 and many other artists. I like to think of myself as an "enabler" for those addicted to recording their artistic dreams. After working together for some time Solomon Olds and I have forged the production team “Whitey Krunck†blending alternative rock with hip hop for a unique and refreshing signature sound. The results of this creative collaboration can be heard on Family Force 5’s debut album “Business Up Front, Party In The Back†and TobyMac’s song “Catchafireâ€.
I just finished John Reuben’s latest record “Word Of Mouth†for early 2007 release. I also just had the incredible opportunity to work with one of my favorite artists- BECK. This project reunited me with long time friend, artist/producer Matt Mahaffey (leader of “Self†and lead singer of “Wired All Wrong†and guitarist for Beck). In one day we recorded 12 classic country songs a ‘la Beck style under the working title “Nashville Trailâ€. I'm working on several other projects including TobyMac, an extended release of Family Force 5, UK artist Josh Doyle, South Africa’s Tree 63, along with new artists Jonathan Salas (Provident), and Troma (Gotee).
