Bankrupt Europeans

About Me

Bankrupt Europeans are DJ Snafu, Fraser, and Signor Cloy. Yes, we are all European, and bankruptcy is but an electricity bill away.
The BE’s started spinning together four years ago, doing regular boom bap club nights, winning the odd competition for mixes, and playing some big festivals like T In The Park. Our love for virtually the same records, and shared ideas of how beats should be produced eventually added Pro Tools next to our mixer. Fraser had a slightly obscure record with a good loop on it, so the BE’s as a production team were born.
After producing six beats we sent a CD to Masta Ace. He didn’t like it. We realised that Rome wasn’t built in a day – it was built in about a week – so we quickly sent our new beats to Rise and thus the "Cornerstone" LP began, and is now about to drop. We've been saying that for years of course, but geniouses can take an extra minute. Whats recorded so far is pretty addictive...The anticipation for this dudes first LP is insane! Mainly from us though.
Our 2nd project is a 12" with AG and Phill Most...This could actually drop while people like Diamond D and Masta Ace still have living fans. The AG joint is done, Phill's recording litterally as I write. I think I just heard him finish the 2nd verse. The AG track called "The 21st Day" was recorded last year, and is soon going to see the light of day, soon, in the most biblical sense fo the word.
On the back of that, we completed the "Fast Rap EP" with none other than legendary Phill Most Chill. We can only promise that people into experimental and abstract hip hop will loathe it. This will be one for golden era the purists only. And its dropping on Traffic Ent. in autumn 2008
Unkut were wise enough to interview the undisputed King of Baritone Political Hip Hop, Mr. Robert Frazier, aka CHILL ROB G, which gave us a chance to express our groupie-esque fascination with the man, and who would know that one of our remixes of Let The Words Flow would catch his eye... 2 years later, the first fruits of ourcollabo are ready to grace similar Chill Rob addicts, with a dope EP droppin soon on Traffic Ent. We need ot find a name for that shit.
Also working on projects with Twizz and Bukue One...when not trying to get a label behind our collaboration with Diversion Tactics ("Monday Night Club/Competitive Sport")...This has now turned into a LP of our favourite British MCs, and so far onboard are Blade, Diversion Tactics, Humrak D Gritty, Truth, Reain, Ralph Ripshit, Kosyne, Ezra, Defisis, Sonnyjim, Jimmy Davis, Jack Flash, Lucchi, Red Beard, Kelo and Dubbledge. 9 joints have been recorded so far
Finally, our Top 8 is MCs we work with...So check em out and make sure you let em know how lucky they are to be working with legends in the making and such. We pride ourselves on the quality of MCs that we work with, but even if we were making beats for our mothers the quality of our own work would never diminish - because after all, life is just too short to make wack beats.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Snafu, Fraser and Signor Cloy
Influences: Lil Daddy Shane is the main one. Sick.

Showbiz, Marley Marl, Paul C, Diamond D, Ced Gee, 45 King, Sam Sever, Mr.Jason, Rude 1, RZA, Jungle Brothers, Stimulated Dummies, KMD and Prince Paul also shaped our sound somewhat (ie: we ripped off all their ideas), though mainly Lil Daddy.
Sounds Like: Like slowed down elevator muzak played in reverse, if in a a bad mood.

Like Marley the 45 Kingif you're in a club checking out our Phill Most/Dizzy Dustin joints, and Chill Rob G remixes.

Like early Hard To Obtain, Homeliss Derilex, Rezidue and classic 1996 type shit when we do stuff with Rise

Like JUST US if we on a self-righteous, "we unique creative individuals" and barrier-breaking stance and want to get the trendy Edan/Aesop Rock crowds.
Record Label: TRAFFIC ENT.
Type of Label: Indie
