About Me

I am pleased to present a new project of mine that is sure to get the creative juices flowing and the brain kernels popping—my latest book, The 90-Minute Effect.
If you’re like me, you’re always in the mood for a great story. From Bogart and Bacall to Batman Begins, from Pride and Prejudice to The Princess Bride, and from Ben-Hur to Ben Kenobi, there’s nothing like the personalities and narratives that make up our culture’s great stories. Of course, I wasn’t satisfied with simply enjoying a good movie or novel—I wanted to find out what makes them tick, what it is that connects us with these tales so naturally and powerfully, and what provides the magic of a great character and plot twist.
I also wanted to find out what it is about good stories that compels us to replicate these stories in our own lives, what makes us want to triumph like Batman and fall in love like the Princess Bride, and why it is ultimately so difficult to achieve those happy endings ourselves.
The 90-Minute Effect is the product of these inquiries. The book explores the subtle manner in which all good stories are molded, and how we as audience members then shape our own lives according to what we see on screen and read in books.
