Splendid was formed back in 2000 by bass player Steffen Strojeck, vocalist Kirsten Eg Bruun and songwriter and guitarist Fabian Petersen. They all lived in the city of Aabenraa in the Southern part of Jutland, Denmark, and had been playing cover-music for a long time in their band Tetnok.
They then decided to give their own original material a shot where Fabian Petersen was the main writer/composer and with his four band colleagues, Fabian started to compose and arrange their own songs and Splendid was made. The first demo, simply called “Splendid†was offered on their website in 2001 and after a very positive reception the band was very keen to make an even better recording.
“Go Play†was produced and recorded by Danish Jacob Hansen in 2002 and featured the song “Satellite†which is a powerful ballad which went on rotation on Danish national radio “P3â€. Splendid was very happy with the result of “Go Playâ€, and so were the music consumers, since 80 copies of their 2nd demo were ordered per day on the new band website www.splendid.dk.
In 2004 Splendid went on their first co-write trip to Stockholm where they co-wrote with names such as TEN (A*Teens, Lambretta, Amy Diamond). A 2nd trip to Stocholm was made in October, 2005 where they worked with Ulric Johannson (Meja) and his collegue Eric Nova plus Epicentre (N’Sync, A*Teens, No Angels).
Now all the Splendid-members are living in one of Denmarks biggest and most musically creative and active cities called Aarhus.
In February 2006, Splendid was in London co-writing with Fraser Smith (Notting Hill Music) and Steve Booker (Nathalie Imbruglia, Boyzone, Heather Small).
Their forthcoming debut-album “Setup/Payoff†is now finished and ready for release and is produced by Carsten Kroyer (Lucie Silvas, Victoria Beckham, Erasure, All Saints, Melanie C.), Ghost (Robyn, Ana Johnsson, Laura Pausini) and Patrik Berger (Robyn).
