About Me

Back in the proper Washington after graduate school in the wrong Washington. Now I get to put a master's degree in history to work. That should be easy: I can bore someone about the 1916 presidential race as I ring up his or her fast food purchase. And, as a bonus, I am sure I can snag a boyfriend that way! Anyway, still sorting out what to do next--and where to do it. Do I have to head back east to get a job even remotely related to my field? Will I find a guy who can put up with my Frasier-Crane-meets-Opie self? Will I make it to November with all of the twists and turns of the full election slate in this state? Will I be able to type a sentence that does not end in a question mark? February update. Okay, I did survive the election season, even the (still ongoing) Washington gubernatorial race. And I did find a fellow who seems to like me. I suppose he still has time to wake up, but I am certainly enjoying him while I can. The job front, however, is still bleak. Oddly, there seems to be little market for those who specialize in American political history... July update. Okay, scratch that. He did not want me after all.

perfect pop song

For a few days I have been thinking on the subject of the perfect pop song.  I have concluded that the epitome is "Then He Kissed Me" by the Crystals.  It is perhaps the best example of the ...

I am perfectly aware that I do and say things that annoy others. I am also quite aware that these listed nuisances of mine are very trivial. With those caveats, here are a few of those things that s...
