Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the land of rain and hippies, HouFarrLong (pronounced how-far-long) blends a mixture of metal, progressive rock and funk into its unique sound. HouFarrLong was founded in 2001 when longtime friends Mike Houchin (bass/vocals) and Ryan Long (drums) added Mike Farr (guitar) formerly of the local Portland metal band Chronic. Long and Houchin blended their common influences of Thrash, Death, Gore Metal, Grindcore, the love of gravy, and Funk with Farr's love of progressive rock, Metroid, and Stryper. The result is a mix of beautifully textured melodies, shredding guitar licks, exceptional bass riffs and explosive percussion.
