Life hasn't been easy for a man like me. I was born in 1967 to a wonderful family. I grew up in Rio Linda and I still live there to this day. I have always had a love of art and photography as long as I can remember. My father was a lineman and my mother stayed at home to take care of my five siblings and me. My dad always had a love of the camera; from home movies to SLR. My mother taught me to appreciate the beauty in all things. My father would load us up in the car and drive wherever the road took us, this gave me a chance to draw and study the landscapes and clouds. My next door neighbor was Frank Day, a Maidu Indian artist who past away in 1976. I could listen to his stories and share my stories with him all day. In 1977 I saw this movie that changed my life. It was this little space opera about a young boy that dreamed of distant planets and ends up saving a beautiful girl from death. From that day I was hooked on film making. I would spend hours in my room drawing and building plastic models. I always knew when my mom had been in my room because I knew the continuity of my bedroom like the back of my hand. It drove my mom crazy but she understood me. I always got picked on in school because I was smaller, but that changed in my senior year in high school when I sprouted to 6' and made good friends.
I've always held a job, some good and some not so good. My first job was sorting soda bottles in the local grocery store. I moved up quick and gained the respect of the owners and managers. My longest job was at Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant, I spent 12 years at that glowing job. I've trimmed trees, mowed lawns, baby sat and worked as a handy-man. What ever it took to make the bills.
I meet my wife at church in 1994, I wasn't looking but she walk in and my heart jumped. We have five beautiful children; Christopher, Andrew, Avalon, Spencer and Ethan. Some people think I'm crazy for having a big family but I wouldn't have it any other way. The stories I could tell about my kids, but I know everyone with kids has some stories to tell.
My first film job was on a movie titled "RAMPAGE" released in 1988, directed by William Friedkin. Just a small part as background but I loved it. I have worked on several productions of my own, from training videos to weddings. I have also work as a boom operator, grip, key grip, dolly grip, lighting director (gaffer) and camera car operator, for several productions by EMRL Media Group. I'm currently writing a few screenplays and working on pre-production on a couple good stories. I love the film business because it lets me express my creativity in so many ways and besides, it's just dang fun.
