Being able to instantly create anything is my job!!! I explore every aspect of the Arts and Sciences and live life to the fullest extent!!!
I started out as a guitar teacher in Honolulu in the 1980's and made a living giving lessons at Hot Lick's Guitars and playing the local nightclub scene with Crippler, The Kailua Dollz, X Mistress, Steffanie Borges, The Roadshow, Keith Smith, Rockandy, Johnny Panic, The Covers, & SHY. I've played hundreds of shows at the Jazz Cellar, Bully Hayes, Gussie's, The 23rd Step, Alexander's Pizza, Dominic's Rock N Roll Clinic, The Waikiki Junction, the Military circut, The Wave, and the Rock & Roll Booze Cruises.
In 1983 I started the heavy metal band Rat Attack with guitarist Leslie Ripp and released a cassette album that is still on the underground charts til this day. The Rat Attack demo was never intended for release but only to gain label interest. The underground tape traders and college radio soon got a hold of this recording and Rat Attack went international.
In 1983 I also played the Waikiki club scene with Steffanie Borges & Body Heat and in 1984 joined Rocci Disopa's band, The Roadshow with John Andreoni on drums and Sky Kay from The Toyes on bass. We headlined The Jazz Cellar 5 nights a week.
In 1985, I won "the Hottest Guitarist In Hawaii Contest" and my club band Rockandy won the battle of the bands at the Aloha Stadium. I hooked up with a great singer/song writer named Abbey St. John and sax player Jerry Martini from Sly & The Family Stone, and did a series of recordings at Renezvous & Sea West Studios for his solo project and songs for Blue Army, Jimmy Crespo & Adam Bomb. I also joined Toyes lead singer Michael Dawson at Audio Media Studios and layed down guitar tracks for his solo album called "Break The Ice". I was super busy with music and also jamming with AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams, John Andeoni & Tom Hinson in various projects. Later that year I teamed up with guitarist Marty Friedman in the band HAWAII and we recorded "The Native's Are Restless album.
In 1985, HAWAII warmed up for Deep Purple on their Perfect Strangers tour followed by a short lived tour of our own. I returned to the islands and started Liquid Mirror with Joe Galisa and members of Rockandy and by the end of 1986 I was back at Rendezvous Recording with Pierre Grill laying down tracks for Liquid Mirror's "Kicked Out of Fantasy" album. In the summer of 1986, I flew to LA and played with Sky Saxon and Mitch Mitchell at "The Summerfest" at Glen Helens Regional Park. After the show I joined Sky & Mitch in the studio and layed down the guitars on a Roky Erikson cover called "Don't Slander Me" which got featured on the Play New Rose for Me album in France. Also in 1986, we played in Utah with Canned Heat at an outdoor festial called The Boondock Biker Bash. In 1987, the Liquid Mirror album was released on Atomic Records followed by another West Coast Tour. We headlined a bunch of places in LA including shows at Gazzarris, The Whiskey A Go Go, Madam Wongs, The Music Machine, The Green Door, Club 88, The FM Station, Goodie's and worked our way to Portland Oregon for a show at The Pine Street Theatre. In 1988 "Kicked Out of Fantasy" hit #6 on the import charts in Europe and Liquid Mirror returned to Hawaii for a live showcase at the Queen Theatre. In 1989, I joined Dragonslayer SSS. We signed to Pinpoint Records in Hamburg Germany. The album "Just Imagine" was released and accompanied by a 3 month tour of Europe playing with Rock legends Sky Saxon of the Seeds and Mars Bonfire of Steppenwolf, the guy that wrote "Born to be Wild". We played dates in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Belgium, and Greece.
In 1991 I formed Vertigo Children with Roadshow & Sweet Revenge lead singer/guitarist, Rocci Disopa and created a new type of metal called Death Funk. We recorded demos with Ivan Neville producing and hit the LA club scene. We headlined shows at The Roxy, Club Lingerie, The FM Station, The Coconut Teaser, The Troubadour, Blak & Bloo, Mancini's, Bourbon Square, Pelican's Retreat, The Red Onion, Shock Society, Dragon Fly and a bunch I'm sure I forgot... :) In 1993 Vertigo Children released the song "Love U Kill U" on a compilation album put out by the Album Network and were getting write ups in Music Connection, Dert, Rock City News, Intense, Live Wire, Factor X and RIP magazine . By 1995, Vertigo Children was nominated for a LA Music Award and in 1996 VC headlined Spring Break. Although we had enough material to put out 3 solid albums, the band put out 3 demos, a bunch of videos and in 1997 put out a full length album entitled "Angels & Aliens". In 2002 I joined forces with singer Randy Hand and started a band called "hand". We signed to Oblivion Entertainment in Los Angeles and recorded a 4 song EP and later that year I recruited LIQUID MIRROR drummer Rob Perreira, while Randy Hand recruited bassist Steve Garretson to complete the band. We wrote and recorded a full length album entitled Handarchy which has never been released. I've had the great privelidge of playing with members from Megadeth, AC/DC, Steppenwolf, The Toyes, Sly & The Family Stone, The Roadshow, Ivan Neville, Kill Culture, Arthur Lee & Love, Sky Saxon & The Seeds, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and many others. I've also had the honor of working with world class engineers & producers such as Bob Ezrin, Chris Steinmetz, Eddy Schreyer, Gary Stern, Roy Alfred, Pierre Grill, Rick Keefer & Ed Roy. I am currently recording a solo album with Christian Werr, ex Black Label Society, Coma Star, entitled "Live & Die by 6 Strings", and hope to have it released in 2009. I have recently re released a 25th Anniversay RAT ATTACK album on Old Metal Records with worldwide distribution. LIQUID MIRROR's Kicked Out of Fantasy album has also been re released on Retrospect Records, and HAWAII's The Native Are Restless album has been re released on Steamhammer & Axe Killer Records since 1985.
