Grim Demise - New Frontman Wanted

About Me

Grim Demise Band Bio:Grim Demise was formed by two former members of the band Seventh Eve (who had been a part of the Newcastle music scene for several years), Richard and Luke. This was due to creative differences, as they wanted to take their music in a heavier direction than Seventh Eve's more rock/power metal stylings. This was evident in new material being written such as Reserved Hatred, which took on a much more aggressive style bordering on the thrash/death movement. The duo began auditioning bassists, to complement the new arrangement which was so far only a singer and guitarist with a lot of ideas waiting to happen.
After a brief period Legion was named the bassist, and the band (at the time still un-named) was christened Grim Demise, to reflect the much darker, more sombre lyrical direction of the band. Lyrics being written began to reflect the frustrations and trangressions that are pivotal to the human condition.
After several long months of jamming and writing, the band recorded the early blueprints of certain songs such as "Through my Eyes", and the bands sound began to develop. With the addition of Davey on drums Grim Demise had solidified as a band.
Rather than simply focusing on sheer speed and brutality a mixture of melody and tempered songwriting began to surface. The songs began to grow, some spanning as much a six or seven minutes, with tempo changes, melodic interludes and the old school of lead guitar usually only found on the thrash of the eighties. Vocal arrangements were added to include backing vocals, giving the band a more intense delivery.
Grim Demise went on from there to play their first gig at the Cambridge
(supporting Infernal Method),
which earned them a mention on Triple j's Full metal racket program.
Onwards from this considerably successful starting point Grim Demise have performed further times
as support for
Psycroptic
Lord
Mortal Sin
Frankenbok
Rather Be Dead
Double Dragon
Vaticide
Lynchmada
Minus Life
(Tocata)
Inane Eminence
Tourettes
Darker Half
Aeturnus Dominion
A few years down the road and Grim Demise has evolved. New material currently being written shows a future of progression and promise ahead.
Recently the band has shifted members, introducing Mr Ben Good behind the (large) drum kit, whose energy and enthusiasm has increased the force of Grim Demise's musical assault into overdrive. And of late 08' we have introduced our newest member Mr Ben Rommell (yes another Ben) on second guitar to make our sound bone crushing.
Grim Demise currently have a demo available for free download on myspace and available on cd at live shows. Also shirts for $20 each. We will be recording our first EP in 09'.
