I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it.

My name is Randi Miller. On February 1st 2006, at a press conference in DC, I was chosen over 1,258 competitors to be The New Voice of Metro (the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority), more specifically, the first new voice on Metrorail subway trains since they starting running 30 years ago. This may not sound very exciting to some, particularly since it is a non-paying gig; however, my voice is heard by over 800,000 people every day in the nation's capital, on the second-busiest subway system in the country ... and that kind of exposure is priceless. The enthusiastic support I've gotten from friends, family and complete strangers has been astounding, and I've gotten such a kick out of meeting so many new people. My dreams are coming true in ways I never suspected, and maybe that's exactly why it is such a sweet thing.

I've been writing and performing my own music since the age of 11, and for years I thought my stardom would come from that. Alas, all that singing and emoting made for great vocal training (no pun intended).
I'm making changes in my world, reaching for the things that make me happy, letting go of the things that don't. I'm ready to make a move, I'm ready for the realization of my dreams. Positive thinking is key to visualizing your own success!
I'm on my way ... and I'm taking all of you with me. {wink}

Fun Fact: The longest escalators in the western hemisphere are located in the Wheaton (Maryland) Metro station. They span 230 feet and take just over four minutes to ascend.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet smart, compassionate people with a sense of self and sense of humor. People who appreciate the uniqueness of each of us. People who are capable of having a good time without the aid of an IV full of alcohol. People who are confident enough in themselves to show up alone on a first date. People who are, simply, kind.
Remember that a person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person. Think about it. I have found this to be true, and I don't need those people in my life. And you don't need them in yours.

Obstacles are like the Wizard of Oz... not so scary once you see them up close.

Christmas Light

When I was growing up, the countdown to various holidays was not one of impending joy, but something quite the opposite.  My mother, sister and I knew that my father would ruin each holiday, and ...

There is nothing so enormous and frightening as reality.  Time suddenly means something, and apparently so do relationships once tossed aside like discarded personal hygiene items. Case in point:...

Beliefs

Who we become has a great deal to do with what we believe. Throughout her adolescence, my sister was told she was a loser who would never amount to anything.  So was I.  She chose to believe...
