LIFE IS LIKE THE OCEAN, THERE ARE BIG WAVES AND THERE ARE SMALL WAVES, BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS BE SURE THAT ANOTHER ONE IS ON IT'S WAY...The Universe moves on music. Every action is on a tone or "sound point" with both a limit and an origin of manifestation. This is symbolized by an integer "cutting" the undifferentiated pitch continuum, thus opening space itself to further differentiation. When projecting integer or whole number arithmetic into a tone-circle (i.e. linking the space matrix with the continuum of real numbers), the octave cycle cannot be subdivided into proportionally equal parts, thus achieving constant imperfection. With this in mind, space and time are understood to be both the occasion and the challenge for complete integration in every action. Each sound-point plays out the manifestation and dissolution of the whole body-perspective in human life (i.e. the World is created and destroyed with every action).
Music, like the Universe, is nonlinear and provides a model and a ground for meaning. The Musician takes his stand on any pitch and music theory is of relative, not absolute pitch. A wide range of modal tunings is gained because it is sensitive to the precise values of pure octaves, fifths, and thirds. These psychoacoustical norms form an inner metric space which make it possible to deviate from them by 1 or 2 "quarter tones", the least perceptively different pitch intervals.
