About Me
DezroK discovered the piano at the age of seven, while on a retreat with his
mother at the Catskill Mountains Inn of the Spirits. One evening, DezroK
sat at the piano located in the hotel's lounge and began to play, surprising
the guests at the Inn with an impromptu recital when he instantly played a
tune by ear.
At age 14, DezroK plugged in his first keyboard, a Korg Poly 800, and then
later models of synthesizer; the instrument which he continues to use to
this day. Over the years, with the help of friends and family, DezroK built
a studio in his own bedroom.
Unexpectedly, DezroK found himself amidst a huge collection of keyboards and
recording equipment to hone his skills, almost never leaving his studio. As
a self-taught keyboardist, DezroK naturally began to write, produce and
arrange his own music. DezroK produced his first single in 1989 with HeartBrake
"Never Stop Loving You" for We B Records, in collaboration with Tony Camillo.
He later worked with Sandy Lindzer who had written and produced Native New
Yorker and Cherchez La Femme. In 1991, he met producer Steve Kourlas, for
whom he wrote, arranged and produced "Love Will See Us Through" by Abby Lynn
on Mic Mac Records.
In the early 90s, DezroK ventured into a new style of music and writing,
infusing spirituality into his compositions. During this formative period,
he sought isolation while creating a unique sound by fusing New Age, Dance
and Adult Contemporary styles into a signature of his own. This was one of
DezroK's happiest and most creative periods and, unknowingly, DezroK was
about to embark on a musical journey.
By 1996, DezroK wrote and produced two full albums, with the goal of
becoming a performing artist and securing an arrangement with a record
label. Although his sound was unique and modern, the recording industry
didn't take to the musical path that he had chosen. Strongly urging him to
change his style towards commercial productions, DezroK decided to write
commercial projects in order to satisfy industry demand. DezroK would never
abandon his dream of becoming a New Age performer and, little did the
industry realize, DezroK would be soon delivering commercial songs channeled
through his own musical style.
Having a passion for high energy dance music, DezroK began fusing dance
beats with new age elements to create a unique, but commercial, sound.
DezroK began working as a DJ in order to showcase his original dance tracks
to club goers throughout New York City and, within a short period, DezroK's
name began to circulate around the NY club scene. DezroK soon became
resident DJ at the popular night club called "Life".
Once in the NYC club milieu, DezroK began to meet many people who would be
influential in his life. His solo-produced dance tracks quickly caught the
ears of Industry greats such as Hex Hector, Mac Quayle, Hani, The Berman
Brothers, Eddie Baez and Junior Vasquez. DezroK was finally surrounded by
people that understood and appreciated his talents, and through these
associations, he began collaborating on such tracks as "Cruel Summer" for
Ace of Base, "One More Night" by Amber, "To The Moon and Back" by Savage
Garden, "Mysterious Times" for Sash, "I Don't Want To" by Toni Braxton, and
"Run To You" by Joi Cardwell.
DezroK formed a special bond with two time Grammy nominated DJ/remixer, Hex
Hector, which led to numerous collaborations such as "If You Can read My
Mind" Stars on 54,"Wake Up" Dawn Tallman, "Give Me Tonight" Shannon, "This I
Promise You" NSync, "Breathe" Faith Hill, and "Let me love you" Da Buzz,
"Give Me Just One Night" 98degrees, "I Turn To You" Melanie C and "I drove all
night" Celine Dion. Including the 98degrees and Mel C remixes in his Grammy
submission reel, a Remixer of the Year Grammy was awarded to Hex Hector for
the year 2000. A highlight of DezroK's professional career was having
Aubrey's "Stand Still", which he co-produced with Hex Hector, reach number
one on BillboardÕs Club Play chart, while also receiving the 2002 ASCAP Top
Dance Song writing and publishing award for "Stand Still", which was
co-written with vocalist Aubrey.
DezroK has built a state of the art studio in his home on the outskirts of
New York City to produce remixes under his own name, such as "Im Real" for
Jennifer Lopez, "Glamour and pain" for Joe Jackson, "Drowning" for
Backstreet Boys, "Approximately infinite universe" for Yoko Ono, "In your
life" for La Bouche, "One Good Reason" by Nicole J McCloud, "Under My Skin" by Elleeven, "In My Dreams" by Tina Ann, "Oneday" by Suzanne Palmer and the
No. 1 Billboard Club play smash, "I don't want u" for Widelife. While continuing to remix songs for other artists, DezroK
always returns to the music that he enjoys most - his original compositions.
When writing and producing his music, DezroK blends beautiful, ambient, new
age sounds with high energy dance rhythms. He describes this sound as
"ambient trance, futuristic, world, spiritual experience". This sound is
best explored on his album DezroK - The Journey of Life, published by
Carlin, blending musical styles which cross many worlds, ages, nationalities
and spiritual beliefs. DezroK compositions are intentionally visual, and
touch the listener through rhythmic energy. For DezroK , Its all about
positive energy. And so, the journey continues ....
