Deepers MC

Deepers is an up-and-coming DnB MC originally from North London. but made his name in the Leeds area. He began his MCing career in 2000 on the London UK Garage scene, soon courting interest from top radio stations Raw-Mission and Lush FM. Upon his arrival in Leeds in late 2004, Deepers appeared alongside grime acts ROLL DEEP and LETHAL BIZZLE, as well as a BBC 1XTRA appearance. It wasnt long in Leeds however before Deepers became hooked on the drum and bass sound. He made his breakthrough in late 2005 as a result of a highly succesful demo with Radius Recordings' DJ STEPPA, the original of which featured on Galaxy FM's "Nu Breed" show. Events took off after this as his DJ-friendly hosting approach earnt him residencies at Leeds' premier Drum and Bass events Subdub and Transmission, featuring the world-famous IRATION STEPPAS soundsystem. Bookings at Tremorz, VALVE and guestslots on LSR.FM soon followed. Combos with frontline liquid DJs TC1, STRESS LEVEL and 3RDGENERATIONDIGITAL resulted in a spot at April's "Liquid V" album launch party at MOMENTUM, featuring ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and UTAH JAZZ that left both singing his praises and looking forward to working with him again in future. Indeed, despite only making his Leeds debut in late November, Deepers was delighted to be voted the city's "best up and coming MC of 2005" and again in 2006, as well as being nominated for best breakthrough MC in the 1XTRA 2006 awards. A firm believer that the music should always remain the focus of any night, Deepers is constantly working on his own personal method of complimenting the styles. 2G7 saw regular radio slots on Leeds' Frequency 88.1FM, Fridays 9-11PM with DJs Essence and Nusense, and he became a regular performer at MOMENTUM, as well as METROPOLIS, SUBDUB and TRANSMISSION. His performances in the Frequency 88.1FM room of Metropolis saw him perform alongside Alix Perez at Metropolis in late 2007. Deepers also won the DNB ARENA Competiton for their April 13th Ministry of sound event and became a proud representative of the world famous Aerosoul clothing label. Having now moved back down to London for good, Deepers has collabed with Djs Alite, Dezert and Laze on KOOL FM, and has more appearances on the station in the pipeline. Although now finished as a student in Leeds, he has also returned up North in the recent months with appearances alongside DJs LYNX and LOMAX, as well as with SHY FX at Leeds University Union recently. 2G8 started as Deepers means it go on, with the up and comer feature as KMAGs "MC of the Issue" in January. 2G8 was a steady one which ended on a big high with appearances at the one and only RENEGADE HARDWARE. 2G9 kicked off with an appearance at the unforgettable last ever HARDWARE at the End, as well as a Metropolis appearance alonside COMMIX. As 2G9 continues, the sky continues to be the limit, so watch this space!
