About Me

I was a founding member of the short lived but explosively successful local rock-cheese outfit Ethel The Boy, as well as the ultimately less commercial band The Ignorance. I like to play guitars with both 6 and 4 strings, and also occasionally 5, but never 7. I even used to ‘sing’.I guess the word best used to describe me would be ‘idiosyncratic’, or perhaps ‘mental’, or maybe just ‘odd’. I like things that don’t make sense, things that flatter to deceive and those baby oranges that you only seem to get at wintertime. I am not a great fan of waking up with a dry mouth, stomach pains and my dangerously suspect ‘dodgy’ knees.I am from Launceston in the East of Cornwall, in the South West of England in the South of the United Kingdom in the North West of Europe in the top middle of the world. Three planets back from the Sun, on the edge of the Milky Way in a universe created by complete accident.Cheers ‘un

Bob Dylan, Boredom, and Remote Reflection

Twenty-two years I have been on this planet. Never achieved much, never done much, never attracted much attention, never saved a life, changed a life or made a life. I've just existed. Happily enough,...

Sept 11, five years ago today

...predictably, you know I am not going to leave a tear-stained tribute to the people who fell out of the sky, but rather congratulate myself on the fifth anniversary of passing my driving test. To c...

World Cup 2006, after the tears

Why must the footballing Gods tease so? Glory dangled so close to the end of an outstretched grasp, but ultimately swung away at the last. I still feel physically sick and disappointment hangs heavy i...
