Bay Area Warriors II Coach: Evan Jones Key Players: Raydell Walker, 6-1 guard, Thurgood Marshall; Isaiah Pfitzer, 6-4 wing, George Washington; Kiyoshi Smith, 6-5 sophomore wing, St. Ignatius.On Sunday, the Warriors faced off against HJA in the Championship game at the College of San Mateo. With only 2 minutes to warm up pregame, the Warriors started off slow and trailed 18-9 early."We were getting beat down the floor on every possession and getting out hustled on the boards," said Coach Evan Jones of his team's poor start.Just when it looked like HJA would pull away, second year guard Raydell Walker took over. Walker was electric on the offensive end, hitting a string of 4 consecutive shots while still having enough energy to grab EVERY defensive rebound. His effort, along with an inspired group off the bench, brought the Warriors back to within two.Once again the Warriors rose early for their 8am game against a power packed TNT team from Los Angeles. The Warriors came out ready as Raydell Walker caught fire on the offensive end. Walker and Kenneth Ugo helped to secure every rebound in the first half which fueled the Warriors transition game. The Warriors went down 3 at halftime due to a display of sharp shooting from the TNT backcourt. In the second half, the Warriors stayed close but eventually fell behind for good as TNT was relentless behind the 3 point arc. Wade Gallman and Kiyoshi Smith energized the team with fearless play but the Warriors just ran out of steam after such a long weekend. Despite losing the game by 14, it may have been the best game the team has played to date.The Rumble in the Bay is the biggest tournament in the Bay Area and includes all of the top talent in the region. The Warriors Blue were not intimidated however as they cruised through their pool play. In their first game, the Warriors steamrolled the Bay Area Bandits 91-39 for the biggest blowout in Bay Area Warrior history. Everyone got a piece of the action in this contest as Isiah Pfitzer, Quentin Glover and Dondrale Campbell led the way in scoring. Raydell Walker made the scoring come easy as he continually found guys for easy buckets on his precision outlet passes. The Warriors then cruised to victories over the Bay Area Ballers III in a 30 point route and the Top Court Tarheels III by 20.A few Warriors were recognized by the Rumble in the Bay:tournament MVP – Isiah Pfitzer All Tournament Team – Drake Green, Dondrale Campbell,Raydell Walker Note: Won the 2nd division of the Rumble in the BayAfter a great game in the morning, the Warriors took on one of the host teams, Jam On It (White) from Reno. The 5pm showdown was one of the most exciting games of the tournament as the two teams battled fiercely through all 4 quarters. The lead sea-sawed back and forth the entire game and players on both teams continued to hit big shot after big shot. The game came down to the 4th quarter where it was strictly down to who had the most heart. Once again, Pfitzer was providing the offensive spark, connecting on a number of clutch 3’s and two driving lay-ups over the outstretched hands of the Jam On It defenders. On the other end of the floor, it was Raydell Walker who shut down the electric backcourt for Jam On It.RAYDELL WALKER HAD 20 POINTS CONGRATULATIONS WARRIORS!
