About Me

The genesis of Yellow No. 5 can be traced back to 1993, when principle songwriters Jason Cooper and Mike Litzinger first jammed during high school. The band as a true entity first formed in 1994 with the addition of Steve Gramley on drums. As a trio, the band recorded and released two studio albums, "Yum" and "Side Pocket," and were featured on the local compilation album "The ToolCity Underground." The band played numerous shows throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, building up a loyal fanbase. The addition of Nathan Gramley on keyboards and guitar late in the band's career helped flesh out their sound for live perfomances and bring a new sonic dimension to their already impressive sound. Nathan would appear with the band in the studio for only one session (the band broke up a few months later), yielding "Get Up" for The ToolCity Underground II compilation and a cover of Led Zeppelin's "What Is And What Should Never Be," which appeared on the post-breakup retrospective "Last Call - The Best Of."The band's final performance took place on the eve of the release of The ToolCity Underground II compilation, at a promotional show at the Academy Theater in Meadville on August 21, 1999. Following the show, the members went their seperate ways. Mike, Steve and Nathan would perform together occasionally as part of Behind The Nine Ball , and Jason pursued solo endeavors.A brief reunion of the band occured at a 2001 Behind The Nine Ball show, where the group performed their signature songs "In Controle" and "Devo Blues."
