About Me

Ronobir has been playing the sitar for 20 years. He studied under Sri Deepak Choudhuri, a prominent disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar, in Calcutta, India, and has composed and performed for theater, film and television. He has two full-length albums of ambient world house; Broad Strokes and Joy for Silverlake. An accomplished actor as well as composer and sitarist, Ronobir received the 2000 Helen Hayes Award for an original score for a theatrical event. He recently composed Max Mantra for HBO, which aired in the form of a yearender promo on Cinemax and the 4 Plex channels in high rotation in '07 and '08. These days he can often be found in Santa Monica, adorning the Promenade or in Beverly Hills, creating a quiet ambience for exquisite Indian dining.
