laughter - the universal cure

About Me

I'm a 28 year old female living in Franklin Park, NJ with my wonderful husband Linc and our child of a dog, Leyna. I have been working for a market research company in Princeton for 2 years, after completing my Masters Degree in Statistics. Basically, I analyze the data that the company collects and turn it into something meaningful for our clients. In my spare time, I can usually be found taking a walk with the dog, swimming endless laps in the pool, or just hanging out with friends. Every now and then you'll find me in the Ott's Okinawan Karate dojo in Chatham, where I received my black belt about three years ago. I don't get up there as often as I'd like anymore, but I still make an effort. I also like doing crafty type projects and I've usually got a few in the works at any given time. I usually keep that to myself cause most people aren't interested, but if you ask, I'm more than happy to share. Check out my interests for more details of how I like to fill up my time.

My Interests

Swimming, hiking, mountain biking, working out, doing anything with the dog, cooking/baking, scrapbooking, cross stitch, puzzles, games, going to the movies, walking around downtown Princeton, shopping, dining in or out with friends, martial arts, drawing, baseball (go Mets!), hanging out with the family, decorating, statistics/math, photography, golf (playing - not watching on TV - BBOORRRIINNGG!!) and probably much more that I can't think of!

I'd like to meet:

Past:Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Jesus, Pablo Picasso, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Edgar Allen Poe, Jackie Kennedy Onassis Present: Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates, J.K. Rowling Fictional: Willie Wonka, James Bond

Music:

I really don't have a genre when it comes to music. I'll listen to just about anything. I like rock, metal, rap. reggae, basically anything but that teeny-bopper sh*t they play on Z100. I can't listen to that for more than 3 seconds - I feel my IQ lowering. I don't think I have any really favorite artists but I do have some groups where I like every song I've heard so far. Some of those are The Offspring, Beastie Boys (before they got political, now they're kind of annoying), Billy Joel, Linkin Park, Nelly, and Jay-Z. In the classic rock arena, I like Led Zepplin, the Doors, CCR, the Ramones, and Jimi Hendrix, old Guns and Roses and old Van Halen. So yeah, pretty wide range of tastes.

Movies:

There are WAY too many movies for me to list here. I love movies - going to them, buying DVD's for my collection, memorizing them, watching the same movie over and over again even though I've already seen it a billion times. So this is going to be tough, but I'll keep it to my absolute favorites, in no order of importance whatsoever: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, The Princess Bride, Grease, Dirty Dancing, 16 Candles, Weird Science, Star Wars (all of them), Harry Potter (all of them), Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men (1 and 2), Bad Boys (1 and 2), all the James Bond movies, Spaceballs, Old School, Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Elf, A Christmas Story, The Ref, National Lampoon's Van Wilder, National Lampoon's Vacation, National Lampoon's European Vacation, National Lampoon's Animal House, Caddyshack (1 and 2), The Blues Brothers, The Saint, Hackers, Pitch Black, Go, Snatch, Dazed and Confused, Empire Records, Wayne's World, Finding Nemo, Clue, PCU, To Wong Fu Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Better Off Dead

Television:

I don't really watch TV anymore. Everything on is basically crap. I'm so sick of watching other people's reality which is anything but reality. When I do watch TV, it's mostly things on cable anyway. But the few shows I do like are Family Guy, The Simpsons, Will and Grace, and any of the Law and Order shows or spinoffs. That's basically it. Sad, I know.

Books:

I'm not much of a reader. I wish I was cause I think people who read a lot sound more intelligent than those who don't. But that may just be within my circle of friends. But the books that I love are all the Harry Potter books, all the Chronicles of Narnia books, anything by Dr. Seuss, and....yup, that's about it!

Heroes:

Some people might think heros is a pretty dumb category, or at least a small one. But when you break it down, there are lots to consider. So here's what I came up with: Superheros: Definately Wonder Woman - I loved her boots, the Wonder Twins, Aquaman (mostly cause I feel sorry for him - his power kinda sucks), all the X-Men, Batman (cause he's got the coolest toys), and all the Thunder Cats. Everyday heros: My mom, a few choice members of my extended family, and basically all my friends for some reason or another. Sandwiches: I think my absolute favorite would be a meatball hero. But I also like a good Italian sub. Do the grease truck sandwiches at Rutgers count as heros? If they do, all of those too!

Movie flaws and inconsistencies I've found

So everyone who knows me knows that I'm pretty much obsessed with movies.  My mind is a veritable databank of scripts from movies that I've seen my whole life.  I think the first movie I mem...

For the past 20 something years, I thought it was cool to have a birthday on the 13th of July.  Every so often it would fall on a Friday and a little joke would be made out of it.  I felt im...
