About Me

L.A. NOIR is the brainchild of Alex Cortes. You could say it's Alex in musical form. The project and the concept has existed in its present form since roughly 2002. Band members have come and gone, hence only Alex is listed herein. In 2002 Alex, along with his buddy Joeface, recorded the seminal, soon to knock the music industry on its corporate ass CD 'Twilight Aftermath'.A fresh, new mix of heavy metal/speed metal and classic rock (and many other influences as well), the CD can be purchased through the band's regular website (listed below).Alex shot a video for the song 'Mausoleum Floor (featuring the Flowers and Candy Parade) back in 2004, which can be viewed on this site (just click on 'video').The band has not played many shows because the line-up won't stop changing, but the ones we have played went off a storm! If you would like more thorough information please go to the official L.A. NOIR website that looks like this: http://www.la-noirband.com/menu.html.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: la-noirband.com/menu.html
Band Members: For the recording: Alex Cortes: Vocals, Bass, Guitars, Keyboards, Drum Machine Programming, and plus various speical guests (mostly for leads but a few other things, too). And featuring 'The Demons Cast Out Of Hell For Having Tourette's Syndrome Girls Tabernacle Choir'. Even if I never sell a single copy it was the experience of a lifetime getting to record and the beauty of it was there was no label crawling up our asses which meant we could experiment, make changes and work entirely at our own pace. During the period when we were recording was without a doubt the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. The following equipment was used for the creation of 'Twilight Aftermath':GUITARS: Les Paul Copy guitar (Hondo body, Ventura neck- pawn shop special all the way dude!!!!), Epiphone SG guitar, Epiphone acoustic guitar, D'Addarrio 10 strings/BASS: Gibson EB0 bass, Gibson EB3 bass, Danelectro Longhorn bass, D'Addarrio 30 bass strings/KEYBOARDS: Casio MK200/PERCUSSION: Boss Dr. Rhythm drum machine (couldn't use a live drummer in my buddy's living room and didn't have access to one anyway)/EFFECTS: Digitech RP6, Various computer plug ins/MICROPHONES: Something really cheap that worked amazingly well (we mostly just ran direct)/RECORDING: ACID Pro 3 computer program in Joeface's living room various months 2001-2002.
Influences: The Beatles are way beyond 1. If God was in musical form he'd be the Beatles. After that would be the following (in no particular order):Black Sabbath (with Ozzy), MC5, early Metallica, Motorhead, Type O Negative, Jim Croce, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Paco De Lucia, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Slayer, Three Dog Night, Blue Cheer, Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, KISS, Lynyrd Skynyrd, B-52's (first album), Covenant, The Who, Little Richard, NOFX, Sweet, Buddy Holly, The Eagles, Boston, Iron Butterfly, Dead Kennedy's, Celtic Frost, Reverend Horton Heat, too many 80's American punk bands to name here, Motown of every sort, Witchery, DEVO, Chuck Berry, Black Crowes, The Damned, Marilyn Manson, Alanis Morisette, John Denver, Elton John, Green Day, Slade, Big Hits of the 70's, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, Queen, Gene Vincent, Mazzy Star, Pentagram, Woody Guthrie, Led Zepellin, Buzzcocks, Mountain, Tenacious D, The Doors, Stone Temple Pilots, Pink Floyd, the theme soundtrack from 'Bugsy Malone', Bad Religion, Elvis, UFO, Exodus and too many others to name in one place at one time. P.S. The biggest problem with rap is that nobody knows how to spell it. They keep leaving the "C" off the beginning of the word. And fuck MTV, too. In the ass.
Sounds Like: A cross between heavy metal/speed metal and classic rock (or so Alex has been told).
Record Label: No label as such (Mannlicher-Carcano Music)
Type of Label: Indie
