Cobras Never Die

About Me

I am a student at CU Boulder in the film studies program (BFA). I work at the Kage (equipment rental place on campus). Other things I do are: boulder, play ultimate frisbee, and skateboard. The main thing I do is make films. I worked on a Feature down in Denver (Skills Like This). It was my first big show, and first credit on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2335930/). Now I am writing a short with a few of my friends. I have wanted to be a director, or DP since the age of five (Sounds so stupid, haha). I also play the Bass guitar (a Fender P-Bass with flat strings for the old mo-town sound, and, my pride, a Music Man Sting Ray for everything else) , with influences of Victor Wooten, Flea, Jaco and James Jamerson. Music is a huge part of my life, without it I would be lost. I just started a new post punk alternative band with a few of my friends, RainCoat Recession . I write a lot (kinda a joke though), graphic design, and draw as well (also kinda a joke).

My Interests

I love film (directing, gaffing, editing, shooting, everything there is to do with film), art (Kandinsky is my favorite), and music (going to shows down town are one of my favorite things to do). Right now I am really into drawing pop art, like stupid vinyl toy type stuff, as I am currently spray painting my entire apartment all sorts of strange, which is not making my roommate very happy. Oh well. I love the smell of rain, and I really like the sound of those bubbles popping on pack wrap. And the thought of creating a jello masterpiece really adheres to my state of mind as of late.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet (all seperately) Michel Gondry (director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), David Fincher (director of Seven and Fight Club), Robert Rodriguez (director of El, Desperado, and SinCity), Darren Aronofsky (director of Pi [so amazing] and Requiem for a Dream, and The Fountain), David O. Russell (director of Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees), and finally Ray Bradbury (writer of all my favorite novels). Oh, and don't forget the main man of amazing films through time Bruce Campbell.

Music:

I like everything, except Rap (I like hip hop, the Roots!), and Country (blue grass and rockabilly are awesome though). I am kinda really into Thrash right now, and hardcore. My favorite bands are as follows: for local I love Call Sign Cobra (not just locally, they are just fucking amazing, they just broke up, but they are amazing) , Moving Units (not really local, but they are not really main stream), and for main stream I like Beastie Boys, Chevelle is amazing (all the way back to Point ..1) Incubus (the old stuff), Slipknot, System of a Down, RJD2, and Tool . Lately I have been listening to The Bled, Underoath, Thrice, Fall of Troy, but The Bronx are absolutly amazing! They cannot be beat. There are a lot of other great bands out there too, but the list is too long, BUT, to give an example of my day, here are the past 70 bands I have listened to today: Tool, Call Sign Cobra, Scott Bayo Army, Fall of Troy, Thrice, The Bronx, The Bled, Jellyfish, Radiohead, Incubus (only when Dirk Lance was their Bass player), Underoath, The Presidents of the United States of America, Matson Jones, Slipknot, Rufus Wainwright, System of a Down, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eagles of Death Metal, Death From Above 1979, Flaw, Psyclone Rangers, A Perfect Circle, Tori Amos, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Chevelle, RJD2, Lost Prophets, Moving Units, Mindless Self Indulgence, 36 Crazyfists, Bjork, RX Bandits, Diecast, Blindside, Elliott Smith, Jon Brion (He is brilliant), XTC, Murder City Devils, Head Automatica, Bumblebeez 81, Spineshank, David Holmes, Tom Petty, Linkin Park (Chester’s voice is awesome), Timo Maas, Refused, Dada, The Crystal Method, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Dredg, Von Bondies, Aphex Twin, Blackalicious, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Jefferson Airplane, Ben Folds, Rancid, Reverend Horton Heat, Me Against You, From Zero, Stevie Wonder, Queen, Steppenwolf, Thievery Corporation, Sublime, Ratatat, Mad Caddies, and the mother fucking Clash!

Movies:

I just saw the Fountain, which is absolutely amazing, one of the best films ever. A few of my main stream favorite films are Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State, Seven, I Heart Huckabees, Fight Club, Sin City, (hate to say it, but I enjoy Kevin Smiths movies, the lazy sack), and Memento. Those are my main stream choices, but I am really into the movie (a space opera) The American Astronaut, pure filmic gold, in the tri-x sort of way (the film stock, not the pornography). My all time favorite movie has got to be The Heart of the World, by Guy Maddin. I just saw The End by Maclaine, and I was blown away! So great (also, sci-fi kicks ass, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Equilibrium, and old school Star Wars [Empire is SICK] )

Television:

As of late I have sorta stopped watching television, but when I do watch I really love watching Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network. My favorite shows are Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 (over? Screw that!), Space Ghost, Robot Chicken, Venture Brothers, and Family Guy. The Simpsons is classic. I also watch a Lost and a little Battle Star.

Books:

My favorite author is Ray Bradbury, but his most outstanding literary work is Farenheit 451 . My favorite non Bradbury is Einstein's Dreams. I also really like Chuck Palahniuk

A poetic break down
