They say small town folk make good musicians. Or do they? Born in the small town of Turner Valley Alberta, Leathan began playing the guitar at the age of 14. Initially drawing his influence from players like Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrell and Stevie Ray Vaughan, it wasn't until later that Leathan began to feel the pull of players like Dave Matthews, Don Ross and Bela Fleck. It is this incredibly diverse appreciation for music that has made Leathan the player he is today. At his young age Leathan has toured with several local acts across western Canada including funk/jam band "Foundation," 10 piece afrobeat band "Miami Device" and singer songwriter Andy Collins to name a few. Currently planning the recording of his first full length solo album to be released in the summer of 2009 comprised of instrumental acoustic guitar music. Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming solo tour, but until then you can still catch Leathan live with Miami Device.
