If it's too loud, turn it down.

About Me

I'm that piece of the jigsaw puzzle you pick up a dozen times but have no idea where it fits so you cast it aside time and time again, paying no attention to it until the very end when you have everything else in place and you need that peice and rush to find it, and it's there for you, waiting, patiently waiting, just waiting to be noticed. That's me. It is my gift. It is my curse.

I'm Canadian. I'm a civil engineer. I'm quiet. I drive a beetle. I work in a cubicle. I have a red stapler. I helped design and rode the World's Fastest Concrete Toboggan. I want to drive a Zamboni.

If my apartment had its own washer and dryer I'd have everything in life to make me happy.

Maybe in Legoland you're mine...

And I musn't forget my wheels...

My Interests

planes, trains and automobiles (not necessarily in that order)

I also enjoy travel, roadtrips and photography. Someday I hope to be able to use my new camera to its full potential.

The NCAA basketball tournament is the greatest sporting event ever created. Go Illini!

I'd like to meet:

It doesn't matter, I'l be too shy to talk to you anyway. You have to stick it out a good six months to really get to know me.

Really though, if Bart F, Tom H, Val Y, Jeremy W, Mike M, Nelson F, Chris W, Craig F or anybody else from the U of M Enginnering crew is out there it'd be nice to hear from you.

I've resigned myself to the fact that most of my old friends are too busy with significant others, kids, houses and other real world stuff to be spending time on myspace.

Music:

Ash, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Comsky, The Clash, The Deathray Davies, Dick Dale, Fishboy, The Get Up Kids, Green Day, The Guess Who, The Kinks, Nerf Herder, Ozma, The Pixies, The Ramones, The Rentals, Saves The Day, The Sex Pistols, The Shins, Space Twins, The Special Goodness, Stiff Little Fingers, Stompin' Tom Connors, The Strokes, that dog., They Might Be Giants, The Turtles, Ultimate Fakebook, The Weakerthans, Weezer, The White Stripes, The Who, The Zombies, oh yeah and did I mention Weezer?

My iPod's name is iPunk!

Television:

Being one of the Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel must be one of the best jobs ever.

This Old House is still one of the best shows on television. I've been sucked into America's Next Top Model thanks to Ames.

I also enjoy watching The Office. My office isn't anything like that but yet it is. It can be painful at times.

Anything with Alton Brown on the Food Network. Nothing like a detailed scientific and historic explanation behind separating egg yolks from the whites.

Books:

I received Infinite Jest for Christmas. I hope to finish this monster before next Christmas. Wish me luck! Man... I've only got two weeks left... maybe next year.

So this year I received "The Great Railway Bazaar" by Paul Theroux and just finished it. A classic if you are into travel writing, particularly railway travel since this work recounts his expereinces while making a circular journey from London to Tokyo and back on 30 different trains in the 1970s including the famous Orient Express and the Trans-Siberian Express.

The Fort Worth Immigration Riot

There was a near-riot outside my office building yesterday when several hundred high school students decided to march up and down Main Street.  They were protesting immigration reform and express...

Kirby Puckett

Being Canadian, when it came to baseball, I was a big Blue Jays fan when I was a kid.  The Blue Jays had some good years in the late 80s and early 90s.  Interestingly, it seems like the year...
