About Me

MyGen Profile Generator The Mind Seizure Haunted House is an intense interactive theatrical production that combines high-tech props, sound, and special lighting effects with live actors and quality sets, costumes, and make-up to create uniquely terrifying Halloween entertainment. It is Colorado Springs oldest and most intense haunted house.
Our 2006 review in the Gazette:
The woman behind the counter taking money had those contact lenses that made her eyes entirely inky black like the aliens in "The X-Files."
As we proceeded to the entrance, two teenage girls came sprinting out of the exit, a chain-saw-wielding madman wearing a pig mask hot on their heels.
Catching their breath a moment later, one girl said to the other, "That was even scarier than the second time!"
This year's Mind Seizure really is more frightening than ever. We were especially freaked out by the man who seemed to be chopping off his fingers and the industrial accident area, where you have to crawl through twisted wreckage until you reach a guy in a gas mask trapped behind a glass wall.
We also liked the maze lined with wardrobes, where you know actors are waiting to jump out at you, and the stuffed "bodies" you have to step on to get through the exit.
And, of course, the scary clowns are back, and they're as terrifying as ever.
Scream meter: 8 out of 10
Extra: The Nightmare Machine, which takes a separate admission of $1, is one of those spinning black-light tunnels that is sure to make you dizzy... and if you've just eaten two Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supremes, it could get really ugly.
The following is the 2005 review from the Gazette:
Mind Seizure has it all: amazing lighting (strobes, projections, black lights), creepy sets (the roach-infested hallway, the bloody butcher shop with hanging body parts) and mechanical creepies that jump out at you at every turn.
But what really makes Mind Seizure the best haunt in town are the actors. Mind Seizure pays its core of 10 actors, and it shows. They stay in character, chanting in foreign languages, moaning in pain, laughing with menacing hysteria.
The theme, "Face Your Fear," starts with a challenge for visitors to open the first door. You must reach your hand into one of several holes in the wall and pull a rope. Pick the wrong hole, and you don't want to know what might be waiting for your groping fingers.
From there, you wind through a series of rooms and hallways. One of the coolest hallways looks like the boiler room from "Nightmare on Elm Street." You have to crouch down under the pipes to get through. Talk about your scary ambience.
The youngest member of our group almost didn't make it through Mind Seizure, and even the oldest felt his heart quicken as he was chased out the last door and into the parking lot by a chainsaw- wielding maniac.
BIGGEST SCARE: The deranged imprisoned woman who slams the bars of her cage against the fiberglass window in the hallway as you walk by. Then, as you turn the corner, she's out of her cage, chasing you to the next room.
IS IT WORTH THE MONEY? Absolutely, especially for teenagers.
Mind Seizure was voted the Best Haunted House of Colorado Springs for 2004! "So scary that we turned into screaming 12 year old girls. A clown with nails growing out of his face and stalkers wielding terrifying chainsaws chased us relentlessly. And the moving walls formed an endless maze we thought we'd never escape. Is it Halloween yet?" - The Gazette's GO Section
