TAPWATERZ! I HATE BEING BROKE!! - Rickfire4 WHEEL CITY INTERVIEW ON CNNFor bookings or if you have any comments, suggestions or questions about wheel life, leave a message or email
[email protected] Wheel City is an entertainment organization started by Namel “Tapwaterz†Norris (rapper) and Ricardo “Rickfire†Velasquez (producer), two talented hip-hop artists in wheelchairs due to gun violence. Their mission is to use hip-hop music and culture to create more opportunities for the disabled and inspire people not to give up in life. In addition, show the world that people with disabilities can still have talents, dreams, and deserve to be treated equal. As a group the tandem performs their original music as well as inspirational speak at hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, fundraisers, and events, all over the world. They have performed/appeared in such places as XXL Magazine, CNN, VH1, Fox 5 News, New York 1 News, New York Daily News, Mount Sinai Hospital, City Hall NY, and many more.As a movement, 4 Wheel city was initiated in the summer of 2005 after Tapwaterz and Rickfire got tired of going to places in a city as big as New York and not being able to get in because there were steps and no elevators or ramps. Fed up with the system and constantly being discriminated against, The 4 Wheel City “Movement 4 Improvement†was started to fight against these injustices. Hence 4 Wheel City is a place for people to find out information, fight for their rights, showcase their talents, and network with every type of individual. More importantly, its also a place for people who are not in wheelchairs to see and listen to a slept on subject and realize that people in wheelchairs are no different. Most are still businessmen and women, students, moms, dads, actors, hustlers, musicians, and want to be recognized as important pieces of society, just like the average person. Thus, Tapwaterz and Rickfire chose to use hip-hop as a tool to get out the 4 Wheel City Message, but the music is not all about the wheels. Still being conscious hustlers from the street and still lovin' to have a good time, the music definitely reflects it.
