I like pretty much all kinds of music...it just depends on what kind of mood I'm in... If I'm in a "chilling out" mood I'll go for classic rock, or Jack FM type stuff (you know '80's music, current music, etc.). A few current fave's right now: Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley, Nine Inch Nails, Audioslave, Coldplay, Pink, Madonna, Matisyahu. I also dig rock & roll and metal stuff, too (a few fav's: System of a Down, Tool, White Zombie). If I'm in a "partying" mood I sometimes like to listen some old-school rap like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube; or I'll listen to techno or dance music (some fav's: FischerSpooner, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy). And since I was a teenager in the '90's, some of that old grunge stuff still holds a special place in my heart! Here are a few that are almost always in my CD player:Cowboy Junkies, Sheryl Crow, Amie Mann, Morcheeba, Radiohead, Madonna, Sublime, Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Cure, and I like listening to movie soundtracks.
Some of my fav's: Forrest Gump, Titanic, Office Space, Orange County, Old School, Signs, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, the Brady Bunch movies, The Big Lebowski, Kill Bill I & II, Punch Drunk Love, Far & Away, The Wedding Singer, Napoleon Dynamite, anything by Quentin Tarantino......just to name a few!
Lately I haven't been watching much TV at all...too much other stuff to do. The only show I watch regularly every week is The Office. When it comes to TV shows, I have the sense of humor an adolescent boy! My fav's are: The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Aqua Teen, South Park, Robot Chicken. More favs include Judge Judy, Cops, America's Funniest Videos, Cheaters, Sat. Night Live, 30 days, Intervention, Dog the Bounty Hunter, just about any show on TLC, comedy shows and reality shows. Well, the TV shows I like probably make me look like a really shallow person....but I'm not! I just like to relax to mindless entertainment when I watch TV!
My all time fav. -- "The Outsiders" (S.E. Hinton). After that -- "The Poisonwood Bible" (Barbara Kingsolver), "The Nazi Officer's Wife" (Edith Hahn Beer), "Tis, A Memoir" & "Angela's Ashes" (Frank McCourt) which were all life-changing. Joyce Carol Oates is probably my all-time favorite author. I like to read historical fiction and non-fiction. I love learning about how other people live and about other cultures. Right now I'm really into reading inspirational books. Currently reading a lot of Thich Nhat Hanh stuff. Also read a lot of parenting books.
My heroes are the "little people" who usually don't get acknowledged but work their butts off--teachers, janitors, single parents, construction workers, police officers, fire fighters, bus drivers, grandparents, just to name a few...and anyone who has wisdom, but knows when to share it and when not to.
